Position Profile:

Bread for the City seeks a Payroll & Human Resources Assistant working 30 hours per week to assist the Human Resources Department by providing comprehensive administrative support to its day-to-day operations. The Payroll & Human Resources Assistant will provide a full and effective range of support services to all employees of Bread for the City.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll twice a month for all staff;
  • Handle basic administrative payroll duties including data entry and filing;
  • Update payroll records as appropriate;
  • Communicate directly with supervisors regarding their employee timesheets;
  • Enroll interested employees in Smart Benefits and update employee changes as requested;
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information;
  • Other duties as assigned related to administrative/HR duties.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree and/or a minimum 2 years of payroll experience;
  • Solid understanding of and experienced with ADP Payroll System;
  • Strong organizational, numerical and computer skills;
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and set priorities to meet deadlines;
  • Attention to detail and follow-up skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • A willingness to learn and develop;
  • Ability to cope under pressure;
  • Ability to work well independently;
  • Ability to work with and for a diverse staff;  
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Familiarity with Google Organization & Productivity Tools (Gmail, Google Docs, Calendar) and/or ability to learn new technology systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team, including the ability to work with volunteers in a professional and collaborative manner;
  • Willingness to learn and carry out Bread for the City's commitments to social justice and racial equity.
