EarthCorps seeks an experienced, results oriented Development Director (DD) to lead fundraising for a $3.4 million Seattle-based nonprofit with $1.4 million in contributed revenue. The DD reports to the Executive Director and leads EarthCorps’ development and communications team. The DD creates and executes strategy for individual and major donor engagement, planned giving, special events, corporate and foundation donors, communications, and data management. The DD must have the ability to build relationships that will grow contributed revenue. 


Leadership, Management, and Planning (10%)

  • Serves as a member of EarthCorps staff Management Team
  • Develops and coaches direct reports to improve performance and support growth
  • Attends and presents at board meetings
  • Serves as lead staff liaison to board Fund Development Committee
  • Establishes and maintains key donor relationships


Fund Development Program (70%)

  • Evaluates progress toward goals, prepares periodic reports for the board
  • Designs and implements fundraising strategies and annual plans based on best practices to attract a broad base of support.
  • Major Gifts: Responsible for implementing and managing all activities related to attracting and securing major individual gifts on behalf of the organization
  • Events: Oversees event planning and management. Takes responsibility for providing input on the strategic elements and program objectives of events
  • Foundation and Corporate Grants: Oversees grants and sponsorships which includes proposal writing and stewarding relationships with government, foundation, corporate funders, and prospects
  • Individual Giving: Overseas individual giving and donor appeals
  • Planned Giving: Manages planned giving program
  • Builds and stewards relationships with a diverse donor pool
  • Oversees the ongoing implementation of the donor database (Salesforce)
  • Provides leadership, training and support to staff and volunteers engaged with fundraising activities


Communications Program (15%)

·        Responsible for overseeing creation, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program

·        Serves as liaison between Communications Manager and staff


Other Duties as Assigned (10%)


·        Education and experience in the development field

·        Strong interest in community service, environment and youth development

·        4-6 years fund development experience and a track record securing major gifts

·        Commitment to equity and inclusion in all interactions and communications

·        Demonstrated success in working with nonprofits boards and donors

·        Demonstrated leadership in a team setting working with staff, volunteers, and others to accomplish fundraising objectives

·        Big picture thinking, flexible, and results oriented

·        Ability to travel regionally including car and ferry trips

·        Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and ability to make connections

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, and donor databases

·        Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends





This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $68,000- $82,000 DOE.
