The Case Manager/Job Developer works as part of an employment program and provides support services to clients and help them reach economic self-sufficiency. The Case Manager/Job Developer acts as the education liaison for clients needing to re-certify their skills or complete job training courses. The role of the incumbent is to ensure clients success in job placement, job upgrade and gaining the skills, re-certification's, training that can help support career advancement and job placement success. This position is located in Colchester, VT, and is a full-time, temporary position through September 30, 2018.


  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate case management, job development and career enhancement support services to clients;
  • Facilitate training and orientation for refugees regarding the American workplace, successful interview and job-readiness skills, workplace communications, compensation and benefits, and workers’ rights;
  • Assist with the provision of short-term training activities, including Vocational English Language training, drivers’ education, and on-the-job training;
  • Improve access for refugees to job training and educational programs through advocacy and relationship building;
  • Make referrals to vocational training programs that can improve clients' employability
  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate employment counseling and find employment opportunities for clients seeking their first job and/or a job upgrade;
  • Develop job opportunities for clients through outreach, relationship building, and networking with area employers;
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the NCWorks, Vocational education providers, higher education facilities and other relevant service providers;
  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate intake services, including assessing clients' employability, preparing employment and educational plans, and providing support to facilitate employment retention and self-sufficiency;
  • Liaise with clients to place them in skill re-certification courses or job upgrades classes ;
  • Maintain accurate and complete case files by updating case management systems, reporting databases, and physical files;
  • Maintain confidentiality of information;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant contractual requirements;
  • Maintain case files and submitting written reports as required; and
  • Performing other job related duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Social Work, Education, Business, or related field is required with two years of relevant experience; 
  • High level of organizational and time management abilities;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate and build lasting relationships and partnerships with program and field office staff;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel and database programs;
  • Highly adaptable and flexible with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a demanding work environment;
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations and in a case management position;
  • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, clean driving record and personal transportation.  Position requires frequent local travel; and
  • Must have dedication to human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people.


  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity; 
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands; and 
  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
