POSITION SUMMARY


The Training and Learning Manager (Manager) serves to support TSNE MissionWorks’ capacity building efforts and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating TSNE MissionWorks' Professional Learning and other training programs. Serving as the primary contact for individuals and organizations seeking training and professional learning opportunities, this person will manage the design and delivery of leadership development and capacity building trainings and initiatives for individuals and organizations using an equity framework. The Manager will work with other TSNE MissionWorks capacity building staff to conceptualize, develop and deliver customized trainings as requested by TSNE MissionWorks clients. As well, the Manager will design and modify curricula and other materials and support TSNE MissionWorks efforts in designing and delivering trainings, workshops, and other types of engagement, while helping develop mechanisms to support and build the capacity of staff to lead their organizations’ equity work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


Training & Professional Learning


The Manager will work closely with the Director of Programs and others on the Programs Team to conceptualize and design standing and customized professional learning and training programs that utilize an equity framework and is responsive to the needs of individuals and organizations, including cohort-based learning opportunities that are offered.

  • Recruit and prepare highly qualified, diverse trainers to lead trainings, programs, and other offerings;
  • Design and lead recruitment, application, and selection processes for trainings to ensure participation and demographic goals for leadership, cohort-based and other programs;
  • Manage, coordinate, and ensure implementation of all professional learning and training programs;
  • Work closely with the Learning and Evaluation team to ensure that learning and evaluation practices are integrated and included in all professional learning and training programs;
  • Ensure that consultants, trainers, and speakers are supported and positioned to succeed in their sessions;
  • Assist colleagues with designing and implementing training and other learning events for consultants and staff;
  • Ensure that professional learning and training programs are high quality, and delivered in a culturally-competent manner with an awareness of learner variability;

  • Serve as a lead facilitator for trainings, coaching, consulting, and other programs, as needed;
  • Develop and support new workshops and other leadership development programs that are data-informed, focused on best practices and organizational excellence, and promote diversity, equity and inclusion.


Client Relationship Management


  • Manage and serve as the primary contact for individuals and organizations seeking professional learning and training programs;
  • Ensure that participants in professional learning and training programs receive appropriate follow-up;
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with nonprofit organizations, intermediaries, and other external stakeholders;
  • Working in coordination with colleagues, ensure that participant recruitment, marketing, and program sponsorships are well managed and coordinated with other TSNE MissionWorks’ programs and services.


Program Evaluation and Assessment


  • Working with the Learning and Evaluation Team conduct ongoing evaluation and analysis of the impact of trainings and professional learning opportunities;
  • Work closely with the Learning and Evaluation team to ensure that learning and evaluation practices are integrated and included in leadership, cohort-based, and other programs.


Stakeholder Relationship Management and other programs/initiatives


  • Serve as the primary contact for and manage requests for individuals and organizations seeking capacity building trainings and support, including DEI as well as other related consultation;
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with nonprofit organizations, intermediaries, and other external stakeholders;
  • Working in coordination with colleagues, ensure that participant recruitment, marketing, and program sponsorships are well managed and coordinated with other TSNE MissionWorks services.

  • Undertake other tasks that are consistent with the position, as assigned.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below:

  • A minimum of eight years of experience managing projects or training, ideally in nonprofit social justice setting;
  • At least five years of working directly on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion;
  • Five to seven years of facilitation or training experience;
  • Extensive experience in adult learning and curriculum development;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, prioritize time, and manage implementation of plans in fast-moving, changeable environments;
  • Experience coaching leaders and playing a role in their long-term leadership development;
  • Minimum five years of staff management experience;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of group dynamics and facilitation techniques, especially in a nonprofit context including;
  • A thorough understanding of adult learning principles and effective training methodologies, especially from a diversity, equity and inclusion lens;
  • Proven ability to build and leverage relationships with diverse audiences and partners;
  • Experience creating trainings and learning activities;
  • Experience working with diverse constituencies and stakeholders, with demonstrable cultural competence;
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Commitment to participatory management and shared leadership practices;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team-based environment;
  • Ability to track multiple projects and tasks in a timely manner;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Experience working in the social justice, racial and economic equity or related field strongly preferred;
  • Ability to travel at least 1-2 times a month regionally/nationally and possibly beyond to meet with participants and others stakeholders occasionally outside of normal business hours.
