We aim to unleash the potential of our young people while also building a toolkit for navigating and challenging systemic barriers to higher education and career opportunities.

THE OPPORTUNITY  

As an integral member of Summer Search’s Seattle Development team, the Development Associate will significantly impact our ability to execute and grow our fundraising program. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in growing into a career in development and learning from an experienced, supportive, and successful development team. The Development Associate will have the opportunity to interact frequently with Summer Search participants and alumni, as well as donors and other internal and external stakeholders.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Development Associate will provide operational support to ensure strong management of the Seattle’s regional portfolio of individuals, corporate partners, family foundations, and Board members. Additionally, this hire will participate in donor research and analysis, assisting with events, executing communication plans, and will be responsible for various office operations. Specifically, the Development Associate will:

Development Operations and Project Management (80%)

  • Serve as the central internal resource for development operations, providing exceptional and proactive support to the Director of Development, Executive Director, local development team, and National Development Operations team.
  • Support logistics for virtual fundraising and cultivation events, including but not limited to materials production, participant recruitment and communication, vendor communication, RSVPs, day-of event production, and follow-up.
  • Assist in preparation for and facilitation of board meetings and communications.
  • Ensure accurate and timely upkeep of all donor data in Raiser’s Edge (RE) database, facilitating gift acknowledgements, tracking donor relationships and actions, building donor profiles, conducting audits, and generating reports.
  • Run scheduled and ad hoc reports, running queries and pulling data from RE database, manipulating in Excel, and presenting in a highly readable format.
  • Support execution of drafting and coordinating donor and prospect correspondence, preparation of materials for individual meetings, and timely follow-up.
  • Liaise with local development and program teams and national marketing team to shape and assist with marketing and stewardship efforts locally, including drafting updates for the website, administering broad communication, and coordinating content for event materials
  • Collaborate with program team and national marketing team to publish and engage on social media. 
  • Liaise with national development team to administer annual giving communications with the local donor community.
  • Support Seattle Alumni Engagement and CONNECT goals and strategy in partnership with program team and national efforts

General Office Support (20%)

  • Perform office management duties including: liaising with office vendors (e.g. copy machine, phones), processing staff reimbursements and check requests, reconciling office credit card, ordering and maintaining inventory for office supplies.
  • Support program administration tasks, such as managing student files and assisting with mail merges.

  • TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: You have familiarity with Excel and are a quick study of new technology. You are interested in learning about how Summer Search uses their donor management database (Raiser’s Edge) and other technology to organize and leverage data in a fast-paced environment.

OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experienced in using Raiser’s Edge or a comparable fundraising database is a plus.

WORK HOURS AND LOCATION 

Work hours are typically 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm with opportunity for flexibility as mutually agreed upon. As we are currently working remotely until further notice due to COVID-19, you will be provided a technology set up to work from home as well as other accommodations as necessary. When not remote, work location is the Summer Search office in Tukwila.
