To help advance our work in New York, we are seeking a motivated self-starter with a strong interest in helping to advance our invasive species field work at high-use recreational areas such as campgrounds, trailheads, and Conservancy preserves throughout the Adirondack region of upstate New York. The Adirondack Invasive Species Management Steward will focus on data collection, completing invasive species surveys, mechanical invasive plant management, public education/outreach, data analysis, report writing, and additional projects along with the other program team members. This paid, short term, summer position is an opportunity for the successful candidate to gain substantive experience and exposure to our conservation work in the Adirondacks and across New York State. 

 

Experience

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 year’s training in science-related field or related experience in land management.
  • Experience recognizing plant and animal species.
  • Experience working in a team environment.                                           
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.

 

Dates and Compensation

  • May-August 2020, 10-12 weeks total.
  • $16.10/hr, 35-hour work week, generally Mondays through Fridays.
