Position Description

NAEYC seeks a highly motivated Advertising and Events Solutions Manager to sell advertising opportunities to NAEYC's existing and prospective customers. This person will conduct research to identify likely purchasers in coordination with relevant departments. The Advertising Sales Manager will conduct proactive outreach to build relationships and create a robust sales pipeline and will regularly track and report out on progress made and companies engaged. This person will also be responsible for negotiating pricing with purchasers with prior approval from the Senior Director, Corporate Strategic Alliances, ensuring consistent guidelines and policies are applied.

 

The Advertising Sales Manager ensures that a viable revenue stream will provide essential operational funding for NAEYC to further its mission of promoting high quality early learning and to support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Key Objectives

  • Develop, maintain, constantly enhance, and implement a strategy for selling advertising and event opportunities based on the Corporate Strategic Alliance sales guidelines.
  • Through research and data analysis, identify and engage prospective purchasers.
  • Actively promote and sell advertising opportunities to identified prospective purchasers, highlighting specific NAEYC media properties that are most relevant to the target audience.
  • Provide input to the department's team to develop appropriate collateral material (digital and print) to target and engage prospective purchasers.
  • Meet weekly / monthly goals for identifying prospects, sales calls and closed sales.
  • Compile and distribute quarterly reports to document sales efforts and progress made, including recommendations for improving product development and marketing efforts.
  • Originate and manage the customer's order, invoice, specifications, and other relevant fulfillment properties, in accordance with sales guidelines and in coordination with the CSA Coordinator.
  • Collaborate on promotional efforts at NAEYC meetings, conferences, and other outreach efforts.
  • Monitor event logistic coordination, management, and customer experience.
  • Collaborate on marketing campaign development.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as needed.

  • Extremely strong and persuasive verbal and written communications skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Sharp data analysis and research skills.
  • Highly motivated to achieve and exceed sales goals.
  • Ability to problem solve with minimal supervision.
  • Strong collaborative skills with proven ability to work closely with colleagues at all levels.
  • Proficient computer knowledge (including Microsoft Office) and ability to quickly learn new computer software as needed. Knowledge of Sales Force preferred.
  • Willingness to train and use online meeting software for a majority of sales interactions.
  • Willingness to support time-sensitive department efforts in the sales of other NAEYC products, and to possible acquire additional inventory to his or her portfolio.
  • Ability to multi-task, and work in a fast paced environment.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience conducting sales, ideally for publication advertising sales and/or with an association.
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of sales experience preferred.
  • Interest in and commitment to early childhood education.

 

Salary: Base salary plus commission.
