Overview of the Role

The Sonder Project is seeking a charismatic, organized, and experienced leader to represent the organization within the community and through Social Media, manage projects and relationships, and plan fundraising events. Our ideal candidate will be able to work independently, and will successfully communicate, both verbally and in writing, to build The Sonder Project’s reputation, network and brand. The Director will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to develop the organizations infrastructure and ensure program and event integrity and impact. 


Key Responsibilities

·      Develop relationships and partnerships with businesses, organizations and individuals to further the organization’s mission

·      Plan, organize, and execute, successful and efficient fundraising events

·      Achieve defined fundraising goal

·      Build the donor database to help move the organization from an event-driven fundraising model to an individual-donor fundraising model

·      Identify potential project sites and manage local community/school garden programs

·      Develop the community/school garden program to achieve desired impact

·      Lead initiative to collect and organize local garden program data with integrity to effectively report on KPI’s and demonstrate impact 

·      Work cohesively with our partner marketing team, and CEO, to manage Social Media accounts

·      Additional responsibilities as determined by the CEO


Key Requirements

·      3-5 years of non-profit, or related, work experience including Fundraising, Event Planning, Project Management and Marketing experience

·      Mission-focused

·      Belief in Core Values: Sustainability, Partnership and Equality

·      Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

·      Strong communicator (written & verbal)

·      Self-motivated and able to work independently

·      Strong Collaborator

·      Bachelor’s degree

·     International travel experience in the economically-developing world preferred

·      Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and gardening experience preferred

·     Sit or stand for up to 4 hours at a time

Able to bend and lift to participate in gardening activities
