Job Description

The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) is a leading not-for-profit organization assisting women, children, and families in the New York tri-state area to recognize and eliminate relationship violence and abuse. Our counseling, education, advocacy and support services help individuals empower themselves to build safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect, compassion, and dignity. Each year, over 2,500 individuals benefit from one or more services that we provide. All our services are culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and free. KAFSC has a dynamic team of 65 staff and an annual operating budget of over 2 million dollars [ www.kafsc.org ].

KAFSC seeks a dynamic, experienced individual who oversees all aspects of grant writing and grant management. This position is a full-time position and reports to the Executive Director

Key Responsibilities

Grants

  • Identify, assess new grant opportunities and strategically pursue grants:
  • Conduct research and write grant proposals for government, foundation, and corporate funding
  • Understand the domestic violence-related funding landscape and cultivate relationships with new funders
  • Craft and prepare programming budgets for proposals with Finance team
  • Put together the full grant applications and submit on time
  • Coordinate all the site visits as necessary
  • Maintain the up-to-date records for grant tracking calendar and access information
  • Maintain relationships with existing funders and cultivate new funding sources
  • Work with Executive Director, Director of Programs & Admin, Finance Manager and program staff team to process and ensure grant award and contract conditions are implemented correctly
  • Work with Operations Manager to provide timely receipts of all donations and effective tracking through DonorPerfect

Administrative/Other Duties

  • Understand the bigger vision of the organization
  • Support Executive Director and development team on fundraising efforts
  • Attend staff meetings, events, trainings, and workshops as needed
  • Assist Executive Director with various administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • BA, BS or advanced degree required
  • 2-3 year experience preferred
  • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work independently and with a team and initiate projects
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized
  • Ability to think creatively, and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Familiarity with the issues of the Korean or/and immigrant community
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluency in the Korean language preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher)
