CSAJ Director of Operations (Part-time/Remote)

FOR MAY 2021 HIRE: CSAJ works at the intersection of gender-based violence, poverty, and social inequality. Given CSAJ’s mission and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we strongly encourage people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities to apply.

The Center for Survivor Agency & Justice is looking for a seasoned, strategic, process-minded leader to serve as Director of Operations. A Part-time position (with future potential to become full-time), the Director of Operations will amplify the impact of the Center for Survivor Agency and Justice by strengthening and optimizing our internal operational functions. We are looking for applicants committed to our mission of enhancing economic justice for survivors of domestic violence, with skills in creating infrastructure, policies, protocols and implementing and problem-solving programmatic and organizational workflow in coordination with diverse staff and partners and by bolstering human resource functions that make our mission a reality.

About CSAJ

The Center for Survivor Agency and Justice is a national organization that addresses the link between gender based violence, poverty, and social inequality.

We envision a world where all people have equal access to physical safety, economic security, and human dignity. CSAJ’s mission is to develop and promote advocacy approaches that remove systemic barriers, enhance organizational responses, and improve professional practices to meet the self-defined needs of domestic and sexual violence survivors.

CSAJ’s work operates on three Levels of Impact: Enhancing Individual Advocacy to address the physical and economic safety needs of survivors, Advocating within Organizations & Communities through partnership building within and between movements, and Changing Systems and Policies to remove institutional and structural barriers facing survivors and their communities. We identify and uphold the following organizational values, as a team and in our project work: survivor-centered advocacy, agency, multi-level advocacy, margins-to-center, intersectional, partnership and collaboration, and praxis.

We currently engage in this work through a number of national, technical assistance projects and context-specific demonstration site work, primarily:

  • The Consumer Rights for Domestic Violence Survivors Initiative (Consumer Rights Initiative) is a national project of CSAJ that enhances economic justice for survivors of domestic violence by building the capacity of and building partnerships between domestic violence and consumer lawyers and advocates across the nation.
  • The Racial & Economic Equity for Survivors Project (REEP) is a national project that seeks to remedy the systemic inequalities facing survivors of color.
  • The Accounting for Economic Security Atlas Project seeks to shift the current underlying advocacy goal from one of individual economic self-sufficiency to economic agency. The Atlas will be a series of three Map Books that assist in mapping, navigating, and changing the economic terrain that domestic violence survivors navigate on their paths to safety.
  • The ACCESS to Justice Project galvanizes the power of non-lawyer legal advocates as critical players in survivors’ access to justice, by enhancing their advocacy around the financial impact of domestic and sexual violence.

The Director of Operations will report directly to CSAJ’s Executive Director and work in close collaboration with the Director of Research & Programs as well as Director of Finance.
