Together Colorado is seeking a Bilingual Organizer to train and develop community leaders to transform systems and advance Together Colorado’s human dignity agenda. This is a full-time, exempt position with frequent night meetings, some weekend work and travel.

Responsibilities:

 A community organizer with Together Colorado works to train and develop leaders in congregations and other institutions to build power toward creating structural changes that transform our communities and Colorado. This person will join a team of community organizers working on a variety of issues across the state.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organize in congregations. Conduct one-on-one relational meetings every week with congregants and community members
  • Train and develop community leaders from member institutions to act in the public arena
  • Work with faith and community leaders to support social justice in their institutions
  • Provide staff leadership for federated campaigns around healthcare, immigration, housing, criminal justice, economic justice and climate justice.
  • Represent Together Colorado at coalition and partner tables to make progress toward shared social change goals
  • Participate fully in Together Colorado’s civic engagement work
  • Participate fully in building Together Colorado’s anti-racism work.  
  • Help to create and use a racial justice lens for policy and organizing work
  • Serve as an active member of Together Colorado’s core leadership team
  • Complete other community organizing assignments as time permits

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in union, social justice or congregation-based community organizing (preferred)
  • Strong public speaking, writing and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills and interest in people
  • Discipline and ability to work effectively in a highly unstructured environment
  • Desire to learn and openness to challenge
  • Experience working in communities of color
  • Spanish language fluency
  • Use of a car during working hours
  • Ability to work evenings and some weekend hours

Salary:                                      $46,000 starting and up depending on applicable organizing experience
