POSITION SUMMARY The Family Programs Coordinator supports FamilyWorks by facilitating a variety of weekly Spanish and English parent/child playgroups, organizing and facilitating family programs, our Community Closet, as well as doing some administrative tasks. The Family Programs Coordinator will work in the Family Resource Center to provide information and support families according to the Principles of Family Support in all interactions on behalf of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS The individual must be able to carry out each of these essential duties successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

 Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of special programs and/or events including but not limited to parent/child playgroups for children birth to 5 years of age, Community Closet, Back to School Program, Winter Wishes, Parenting Classes in partnership with parenting experts, etc.

 Provide information, updated resources and referrals to participants and families as needed.

 Enter data and maintain all paperwork as required by funders.

 Distribute and collect participant surveys who utilize our services and programs.

 Assist with mobile programs for the family resource center, food bank and community partners.

 Work with Resource Center staff and families to develop programming based on community needs.

 Attend quarterly trainings, monthly staff meetings, and other meetings as required and to contribute to quarterly program reviews.

 Supervise volunteers within resource center and family programs.

 Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment for children and parents that is orderly, clean, and welcoming.

 Work occasional evening and/or weekend hours (e.g. providing childcare during evening parenting classes).

 Actively participate in furthering agency cultural competency goals including race and equity work.

 Train and utilize databases to track participant information, attendance of programs and referrals.

Other tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

 Ability to work effectively within a diverse community of individuals and families; including people who only primarily speak Spanish and/or other English-language learners.

 Commitment to equity and social justice and understanding the effects of system-based inequities on marginalized populations.

 Comfortable working in small spaces and in a team environment; capacity for directing and supporting volunteers.

 Experience working with children who are newborn to five years of age; as well as adults to support growth of positive parenting skills.

 Strong knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices related to early childhood development.

 Ability to communicate effectively both interpersonally and in written/graphic formats.

 Capable of effectively responding to participant needs and determining appropriate referrals.  Ability to maintain focus in a complex environment.

 Willingness to proactively seek supervisory input, resources, and information.

 Ability to become CPR certified.

 Must have reliable transportation. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

 Bi-lingual (English and Spanish)

 Associates degree or two years’ experience in social service programs, or equivalent preferred

 Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development

 Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications, data base entry, Zoom and Microsoft teams

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIROMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Works closely with a variety of individuals and families daily, including participants experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and/or disabilities

 Most work is done sitting at desk or table; moderate lifting / carrying (40 lbs. or less) required

 Must be capable of the physical exertion required in interactions with young children

 Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours

HOURS AND COMPENSATION  40 hours per week—must be available Monday through Friday

 Medical and dental benefits, paid holidays and accrual of personal leave

 $22/hour
