 JOB SUMMARY:

The Donor Relations Manager will be an integral part of the development team at Providence House. The manager will play a coordinating role in growing individual donor support to advance the organization’s services to homeless families and women involved in the criminal justice system.

 SUPERVISION:  Director of Development and Communications

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage an individual gift program with the goal of identifying, prioritizing, and engaging all major individual prospects throughout the year.
  • Assign and maintain donor portfolios. Participate in developing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for all major donors and prospects.
  • Manage own a portfolio of 100-150 primary prospects. Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward these individuals.
  • Coordinate with executive team, development department, and board in planning, conducting, and tracking contacts with assigned donors.
  • Work with board, staff, and independently to identify and qualify new donor prospects.
  • Collaborate with board, staff, and consultants in leading the planning and execution of one major fundraising dinner in the spring and several smaller events and receptions throughout the year.
  • Use existing fundraising database to track fundraising activity. Generate reports for executive staff and board on a regular basis. Help to ensure completeness and accuracy of data in the database.
  • Draft written communications with major donors for executive director, other staff, and board, as needed.
  • Participate in annual budgeting, planning, and goal-setting for the development effort.
  • Assist with other Development Department efforts, as assigned.

Sanctuary Model

  • Effectively use and practice Sanctuary Models tools; safety plans, community meetings, psycho-educational groups, team meetings, red flags reviews, and self-care in the program to create a non-violent and trauma sensitive culture.
  • Promote and model the core values of Providence House Mission (Compassion, Non-Violence, Hospitality, and Community) and the Seven Sanctuary Model Commitments to create a non-violent and trauma sensitive culture.
  • Integrate the Sanctuary Model SELF (Safety, Emotional Management, Loss and Future) framework into daily practice to ensure quality care and an effective work environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five or more years non-profit fundraising experience
  • Track record in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mid- and major-level donors
  • Experience using relational database software to manage donor engagement
  • Ability to analyze data to identify opportunities for donor cultivation
  • A strong commitment to the confidentiality of donors and program participants
  • Experience working with a team to conduct fundraising dinners, receptions, or similar events
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing and able to take on new projects and changing demands as challenges and opportunities arise
  • Strong verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to accommodate occasional weekend or evening events (receptions, fundraising dinners, etc.)
  • A commitment to the mission and core values of Providence House

WORK SCHEDULE

  • The position is a full time, salaried position. Hours worked will be weekdays at least 9:00a.m. - 5:00p.m, or at a mutually agreed-upon schedule. Evening and/or weekend work also may be required. Regular daily (work week) presence is required.
  • The central administration office is located in Brooklyn, New York.
