North Shore Organizer

Neighbor to Neighbor Massachusetts (N2N-MA): is a power-building, membership organization of the New Majority dedicated to achieving economic and environmental justice. Racial and gender justice are at the heart of our mission and cuts across all our work. We have Chapters in Holyoke, Lynn, Springfield and Worcester.

Main Responsibilities of the Position:

Build a strong Chapter by recruiting members through door to door canvassing, organizing public events and conducting one-on-one meetings

Hone members’ leadership by holding and facilitating regular member meetings designed to elevate members’ political analysis; provide trainings and open-up spaces for members to take on leadership roles in campaigns, actions and other activities

Maintain regular contact with members and support their leadership

Identify and lead with members local campaigns that respond to local needs and build members’ leadership and strengthen the Chapter

Coordinate and integrate the Chapter with N2N’s statewide campaigns

Enter and maintain organizing related information in the Voter Activation Network and organizing database

Conduct local media and communications work

Help project and hold political space for N2N through supporting the political development of members; building coalition support for organizing efforts and representing our position and reflecting our values in ally spaces

Implement voter engagement and electoral campaigns

Manage donor portfolio of at least 30 donors through donor cultivation and solicitation

Qualifications and Experience

Demonstrated passion about social, economic and environmental justice.

Demonstrated understanding of the struggles low-income communities of color face. Strong political analysis of root causes of injustice and oppression and/or direct, personal experience with the issues N2N organizes around preferred

Experience doing outreach work in communities of color. Canvassing experience preferred

Able to take initiative, work independently AND be a team player

Excellent writing, computer, and interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated commitment to building unity in a multi-racial community.

Experience in issue, labor, electoral or community organizing

Willingness to work flexible hours; some late nights and weekends. Ability to work remotely through the Covid-19 Crisis

The Organizer position reports directly to the Central/Eastern Mass Field Director.
