The Position

In collaboration with the Director of Membership, the Development Operations Coordinator will oversee the Drug Policy Alliance’s donor database, manage the department’s financial reconciliation, and provide strategic support to the development department on tracking the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all gifts. The Drug Policy Alliance’s development department has a team of eight, including this position, and is headquartered in New York, NY.

Primary Responsibilities

The Development Operations Coordinator is responsible for the following:

• Maintain excellent data quality in Salesforce.

• Make database changes as needed by the development department.

• Track and report key metrics on fundraising and campaign performance to the Membership Director.

• Manage the processing and acknowledgement of donations.

• Work closely with the finance department to reconcile gifts.

• Routinely auditing the donor database for duplicates and other data quality metrics.

• Oversee the timely response to all donor inquiries.

• Manage third party accounts, certifications, and online properties.

• Pull and import lists for direct mail campaigns and queries for online campaigns.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a talented, experienced professional who enjoys analyzing data and is a systems-oriented thinker with excellent Excel skills required. A background in Salesforce or other databases required. Ability to distill complex ideas to colleagues and anticipate the operational needs of a complex and growing fundraising department. 

The ideal candidate is passionate about ending the drug war, and is committed to racial justice, human rights, and the philosophy of harm reduction.

Skills and experience:

• Minimum three years of relevant experience

• Extensive experience analyzing and reporting on data in Excel.

• Experience working with Salesforce preferred [willing to train the right candidate} or other databases.

• A desire for efficiency and a strong attention to detail, with a history of organizing data or other complex projects.

• Strong communication skills and experience working as part of a team.

• Highly self-motivated and willing to proactively take on leadership roles; confidence and ability to manage up.
