Who We Are: CORA (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse), the only agency in San Mateo County providing crisis intervention and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence and their children, seeks a Child Clinician to provide individual, group, and family therapy to survivors of domestic violence and their families.


The Position: The Child Clinician should promote CORA’s culture, building effective relationships both inside and outside the organization that inspire others to action. Knowledge and experience in trauma-informed domestic violence is a strong preference. The Child Clinician must share a passion for our mission, be an adaptable, self-reflective, empathetic team player with strong interpersonal skills, and have a desire to support the needs of survivors of intimate partner abuse. The Child Clinician will bring a sophisticated understanding of cultural competency, conflict resolution and demonstrate self-initiative and a genuine interest in professional and personal growth. This individual should also demonstrate interest and proven skill in implementing best practices.


Position Summary:

This is a new position and the clinician will be involved in program development. This position will serve as the lead clinician and coordinator for services rendered under CORA’s CalOES CHIRP contract. As the primary contact for referrals, they will provide comprehensive needs assessments for children who have witnessed domestic violence or endured other types of child abuse in conjunction with domestic violence. The Child Clinician will develop case plans that include individual therapy, family therapy, as well as group therapy, child development services, legal assistance, referrals to Victim Witness, or other resources as relevant. They will provide trauma-informed therapeutic services to children in the CHIRP program using best practice modalities. They will be stationed at CORA’s Community Office, and will be expected to travel to and from the Transitional Housing apartments and Emergency Shelter, as needed. 


Primary Responsibilities:

Clinical Services:

  • Accept and review referrals to the CHIRP program.
  • Conduct comprehensive eligible and needs assessments with children. This may include an assessment of the family in effort to support the child’s healing.
  • Create a case plan which includes individual therapy services. Case plans may also include referrals to CORA’s other supportive services (Children’s Program, Legal Services, Group Therapy) as well as external referrals to address the identified needs.
  • Provide referrals to Victim Witness and/or provide information related to Victim Witness eligibility and supports available.
  • Provide limited individual and group therapy services for children focused on decreasing PTSD related symptoms, increasing coping strategies, attachment strengthening, and social and emotional wellbeing. Therapeutic interventions should reflect best practices in responding to trauma in children, including: trauma informed care, trauma-focused CBT, NMT, Trauma Specific EMDR, Dyadic Infant Mental Health Treatment, and family therapy.
  • Provide crisis management support as needed or as requested by team members.
  • Provide referrals for external therapy whenever indicated.
  • Maintain files for each client and keep them in compliance with agency standards.

Program Support:     

  • Satisfy external administrative requirements as well as internal administrative demands in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Coordinate with agency staff and partner agencies regarding treatment planning, assessing progress and planning terminations.


Documentation Responsibilities:

  • Write treatment plans.
  • Chart progress notes and maintain all records in accordance with agency policy.
  • Maintain data in Apricot, or other designated database.
  • Maintain accurate documentation on client caseload.


Quality Assurance:  

  • Work with Clinical Supervisor to promote QA for department.
  • Monitor records of all clients on caseload to ensure compliance with program outcomes, effective treatment plans and service delivery goals.


General:

·      Coordinate with community partners and with CORA interns and volunteers to provide and enhance services to CORA CHIRP clients.

·      Attend CORA and community meetings, as appropriately specified by Supervisor.


Minimum Qualifications:

·      Intern or Licensed MFT, LCSW in the state of California or license eligible.

·      Demonstrated verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish preferred.

·      Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, including completion of state mandated 40-hour domestic violence training.

·      Minimum of two years providing therapeutic services to children who have experienced abuse strongly preferred.

·      Advanced training and demonstrated effectiveness with providing trauma-informed therapeutic services for children required. Experience with trauma-focused CBT, Trauma Specific EMDR, and Dyadic Infant Mental Health and family treatment strongly preferred.

·      Familiarity with related resources in the community, and comfort in accessing them.

·      Demonstrated ability to work with a team towards the establishment of a highly effective, stable, and cooperative work environment.

·      Active listening skills and ability to work with a diverse clientele in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner.

·      Demonstrated commitment to culturally-competent service provision.

·      Understanding of issues of oppression and social injustice as they impact CORA’s targeted communities.

·      Ability to participate in giving and receiving constructive feedback, practice non-violent communication, and utilize insight and self-reflection.

·      Access to a working automobile, clean DMV record, valid driver’s license, and proof of current auto insurance.

·      Successful results from a criminal background check, including fingerprint clearance.

Compensation: This is a regular, full-time, exempt position. Annual Salary $54,600 based on a 37.5 hour workweek; non-negotiable. Our programs include Crisis Intervention Services, including a 24-hour hotline, collaboration with law enforcement, and support groups.
