Position Responsibilities:

The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Executive Director of Finance. Essential duties and responsibilities of this position will include:

1. Prepare and manage the development of all budgets for new business initiatives.

  • Leads the annual kickoff to budgeting process with the Regional and Functional areas
  • Train Program Managers on budget creation and management as needed
  • Acts as a mentor to the Project Manager on complex budgets to be sure IHI is maximizing revenue recognition
  • Implement changes and updates until budgets are "approved" and then transferred to appropriate finance budget analyst
  • Works with and trains new finance budget owner for seamless finance hand-off
  • Work with New Business team to create new budgets for proposals

2. Oversee the financial analysis for groups of budgets ,helping the Regional Leads implement their "ideal" programs through effectively managing their resources. 

  • Lead monthly regional Financial Results meetings with IHI's two largest regions
  • Report actual vs. budget results to the /Executive Director of Finance
  • Mentor and Leading Senior Accountant on how to lead the monthly regional financial results meeting with two of IHI's regions of accountability.
  • Provide general support and excellent customer service to all levels of budget ownership
  • Responsible for financial reporting for a select group to grant agencies
  • Generate monthly budget vs. actual reports via Adaptive Insights 

3. Leads implementation of the annual budget and quarterly reforecast process, including both external and internal finance procedures. 

  • Leads quarterly Projections with Budget Owners in preparation for the quarterly Board Meetings
  • Performs variance analysis, year-end predictions, suggested changes, etc.
  • Works with the Executive Director of Finance to prepares annual calendar for fiscal year budgets and quarterly revisions
  • Responsible for the up keep of budgets and revisions into Adaptive Planning Software
  • Provides annual trainings on budget processes for all IHI budget owners
  • Provide ad hoc trainings and coaching on budget processes with IHI staff as needed
  • Assists with the long term budget process, working with the Executive Director of Finance and CFO 

4. Assist the Assistant controller in several routine accounting functions and reviews. 

  • Partners with Assistant Controller to accrue expenses for the regions overseen by the Financial Analyst
  • Assists with the annual audit as needed
  • Assists with Revenue Recognition for complex projects

 5. Works on Continually Improving the Budgeting process including software tools, trainings, lunch and learns etc. 

6. Perform special projects, as needed.

 

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage projects, partnerships and professional relationships required

Position Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Five to Ten years work experience in a similar finance/accounting position required
  • Must be highly organized and flexible in dynamic environment
  • Must have commitment to IHI's mission and values
  • Experience using Great Plains accounting system and Adaptive Insights or similar accounting software preferred
