Summary of Position

As a team supervisor, you are responsible for independently overseeing and managing 3-4 smallcamp groups within a site. Those you supervise include campers, group leaders, and summer interns. You will provide daily oversight and coaching, as well as advice and support in group dynamics and behavior management. Applicants should be creative, flexible, have a good sense of humor, enjoy spending time outside and love working with children.

Camp has begun, so you would be jumping into a program that is already on its feet. This will entail a large degree of flexibility, humility, initiative, and enthusiasm. START DATE: ASAP!

Essential Functions 

  • Frequent contact with assigned co-working teams for support and constructive criticism
  • Support group leaders in behavior management strategies, including one-on-one and group facilitation, as well as crisis intervention with children and staff as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the inner workings of groups, including group dynamics, tidiness of small camp, and co-working relationships
  • Conduct written and oral evaluations of staff
  • Ensure timely submission of all required paperwork
  • Communicate with parents as needed
  • Provide leadership during staff training and during the summer in-service trainings

Job Specifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience working with youth in a group setting
  • Formal supervisory experience required
  • Camp experience preferred
  • Work and/or educational experience related to child development, leadership, child psychology, environmental education, and/or behavior management preferred
  • Applicants must be CPR and First Aid certified - reimbursement is available
  • High levels of enthusiasm, kindness, and patience
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt to on-going changes
  • Ability to run, bend, and change directions while moving
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • The ability to be successful in a fast-paced environment, and flex to changing needs
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain, for up to 30 continuous minutes

Program dates

Monday June 21 - Friday August 27

Typical schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:45 - 4:15.

Two aftercare shifts per week, days assigned by camp director, bringing end-of-day hour to 6:00.
