YWCA Orange County – Executive Director Search

YWCA Orange County, founded in Newburgh in 1888, is a feminist, anti-racist social justice organization, committed to empowering women and eliminating racism through community programming, education, and legislative advocacy.  The YWCA national mission of “eliminating racism and empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all” is fulfilled locally through programs addressing women’s economic empowerment, racial justice (including immigration reform), women’s health, violence against women, and community collaboration.  The agency serves over 5,000 people annually through programs extending throughout Orange County. The YWCA is committed to focusing all its resources toward breaking down the structural elements of racism and sexism that lead to unequal distribution of power and access in our communities.

Small YWCA serving Orange County, NY – County population of 378,000, with a mix of 3 small urban centers, NYC suburbs and rural areas (including farms with migrant workers)

Programming includes:

   Women’s Economic Empowerment

Workforce Development in Non-traditional Occupations

               Fish Window Cleaning at the YWCA – social enterprise / workforce development

               Childcare – after school, and at Family Court

   Racial Justice

               Immigrant Documentation Assistance / Immigration Reform

               Undoing Racism Workshops and continuing community discussions

               Teaching Tough Topics

   Women’s Health

               Cancer Services Program – screenings for uninsured, with focus on women of color

               Reproductive Health advocacy

The Executive Director focuses on resource development, external relations and long term sustainability

Must have knowledge of and experience in administrative leadership/management and fund development; background in workforce development a plus; experience in social justice issues, most importantly feminism and racial justice.

Salary commensurate with experience, $60,000-$75,000; generous PTO, health benefits available, retirement fund
