The Women's Foundation of California (WFC) is operating with an entirely remote workforce. Incumbent must work and reside within California.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Policy Programs, the Program Coordinator will support WFC’s programs. This position primarily assists our Solis Policy Training Institute encompassing the State, Local and Alums programs as well as grantmaking and community convenings, with a focus on coordinating trainings, implementing plans and organizing external and internal stakeholders. WFC’s programs train, convene and provide funding for organizers, advocates, policy makers and community builders from across the state to create new connections and strengthen networks.  

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional who is looking to grow their exceptional skills as a detail coordinator, project manager, content creator and teammate in the service of positioning the Women’s Foundation California as a leader in gender justice. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, self-initiating and a strong written and verbal communicator.

Essential Duties

Support the Program team, particularly the Solis Policy Institute including the State, Local, and Alum programs on specific projects including but not limited to:

  • Participate in planning and implementation of virtual and in person meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Communicate regularly and promptly with meeting participants regarding logistics and content in advance of and after events.
  • Assist in the recruitment process for program participants and fellows.
  • Serve in lead role for the maintenance of SPI participant and speaker databases and listservs.
  • Serve in lead role for logistical and operational support for program meetings, conferences and retreats.
  • Serve in lead role for lobbying and advocacy tracking and support reporting.
  • In collaboration with Program Team, participate in development of programs by helping to identify, select and prepare trainers, speakers, mentors and policymakers.
  • Occasionally may lead and participate in training sessions consistent with knowledge and interest.
  • Communicate policy project guidance to SPI teams (in-person, and/or through video conference and conference calls).
  • Participate in the long-term planning of programs, including assisting in preparation of online evaluations and analysis.
  • Provide information and support the drafting of internal and external communications regarding WFC programs.
  • Support Community Power Fund and Alum Rapid Response investments by participating in identification and review of organizations.
  • Contribute to planning, integration and implementation efforts of programs across the department; Public Policy, Grantmaking and California Women Rising.
  • Participate in WFC team meetings and professional development activities. May attend off-site meetings or events, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Skills + Experience

  • 3-5 years program or department support experience. Demonstrate a high level of skill and enthusiasm for administrative and project coordination tasks.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience addressing racial and gender justice issues.
  • Understanding of or experience in policy advocacy and/or political organizing and reporting.
  • Ability to produce high quality work and written materials needing minimal editing.
  • Strong proficiency learning technology tools such as GSuite, MS Office, Slack, Trello, Basecamp to support project management and communication across teams.
  • Experience with databases and data entry.
  • Works well independently and collaboratively within a team and demonstrates a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness and flexibility to meet the needs of the role
  • Excellent at executing a plan or idea and taking ownership to bring the plan to fruition
  • Ability to articulate current trends, strategies and solutions that will contribute to equity and justice for all Californians in powerful, interesting and compelling ways.
  • Ability to relate professionally and respectfully to a wide range of people.
  • Creativity and flexibility in developing approaches and problem solving.

  • Must possess a strong commitment to the mission, policies, goals and philosophy of the Women’s Foundation California.
  • Must be able to multitask with a high degree of project and time-management capacity to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create positive, long-term working relationships by demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and customer service, tact, dependability, diplomacy and flexibility.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to meetings and other Foundation events.
  • Positive approach, can-do attitude and sense of humor.

Salary

$65,000 - $72,000● Program Coordinator is a full-time nonexempt position with a salary range of $65,000-$72,000 annually. Salary offer will be dependent on experience
