ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Resilience is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group trauma therapy, and medical and legal advocacy in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Resilience provides public education and institutional advocacy in order to improve the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault. Established in 1974, Resilience now serves more than 2000 survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones annually through our main office in downtown Chicago and our community‐based offices in Austin, Ravenswood, and on the Stroger Hospital campus.


GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Creative Arts Therapy Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the Creative Arts Therapy Team, which includes art therapists, dance movement therapists, and art therapy interns. The Creative Arts Therapy Supervisor is also responsible for providing individual, couples, and family therapy as well as facilitating general and specialized support groups for adult and adolescent sexual assault victims/survivors and their significant others at the Central Office, located in downtown Chicago, and occasionally off-site. This is a full-time, exempt position.


COVID 19 CONSIDERATIONS

Due to the current pandemic conditions, the Creative Arts Therapy Supervisor will temporarily work from home until such time that conditions allow for a return to our on-site offices. All of our trauma therapy clients are receiving telehealth services.


RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Provide individual, couples and family therapy, and support groups for adolescent and adult victims/survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones (Art Therapy & Trauma Therapy)

2.      Provide weekly clinical supervision for the creative arts therapy staff and interns

3.      Maintain a caseload of therapy clients appropriate to the level of employment and program needs (15-20 clients)

4.      Assess/screen individuals for group services to determine appropriate level of intervention

5.      Promptly respond to requests for therapy services and maintain intake and referral records

6.      Participate in regular supervision, consultation, program, and staff meetings

7.      Participate in trainings as a presenter for local and statewide sexual assault coalitions, institutional partners, and other agencies, as assigned, including trainings hosted by Resilience

8.      Develop and maintain a network of therapy community members and service providers within and outside of Creative Arts Therapies

9.      Develop and implement creative arts therapy programming such as trainings, events, workshops, and groups

10.  Identify and participate in community events, forums, and meetings as necessary to maintain the agency’s awareness of community issues impacting survivors, as well as awareness of the efficacy of the Creative Arts Therapies for survivors

11.  Collaborate with staff and interns from the Education & Training, Advocacy, and Trauma Therapy departments in order enhance the effectiveness of the agency’s services

12.  Maintain accurate and complete records of all services delivered, and adhere to agency and program documentation requirements

13.  Provide therapy services primarily at the Central Office, but also off-site or at agencies that have agreed to provide counseling space for the agency 

14.  Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Art therapy or Dance Movement Therapy

·      LCPC Licensure required; ATR or DMT preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience providing counseling services required, including support groups and family counseling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent counseling and client assessment skills
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills
  • Previous experience facilitating presentations on sexual violence; excellent presentation skills
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to problem solving a must
  • Comfort with giving and receiving honest, constructive feedback
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as with a team
  • Previous experience working on women’s issues, addressing sexual violence/gender-based violence, and working with diverse populations including LGBTQ communities and communities of color strongly preferred
  • Completion of a minimum of 40-hours of sexual assault training within 60 days of hire is required; prior completion of a minimum of 40-hour sexual assault training conforming to the standards set by the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to work some evening hours is required
