The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.

Operating out of Bronx County Criminal Court, Bronx Community Solutions (BCS) offers criminal justice programming in the areas of pretrial diversion programming thru regular monitoring and referral services to misdemeanor and non-violent felony defendants whose cases are pending; and alternative to Incarceration programming for non-violent crimes by providing additional sentencing options for non-violent offenders. These programs reduce the reliance on pre-trial detention and short-term jail sentences and offers defendants the assistance they need to avoid further criminal conduct.

The Bronx Community Solutions is seeking a Case Manager, Behavioral Health. Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the Case Manager will assist in expanding in-house interventions such as case management, service referrals and compliance tracking and management. As part of the clinical team, this position will assist with all special projects and initiatives and general referral services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide case management services for court-mandated clients, including identifying appropriate programs, facilitating program referrals and following up with service providers on clients’ progress;
  • Monitor and report on compliance to court stake holders and work with defense attorneys to bring program participants into compliance, as needed;
  • Assist court-based staff with the case management of longer-term cases involving drug treatment, anger management treatment, or other long-term monitoring;
  • Conduct follow-up for program referral and track outcomes;
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure that the needs of the clients are met;
  • Participate in individual and group supervision with the Clinical Coordinator and clinic staff;
  • Participate in staff meetings and staff development programs where appropriate;
  • Provide voluntary referrals to community-based services as needed;
  • Communicate with service providers to facilitate, follow-up and assist participants with voluntary service referrals;
  • Complete all necessary documentation and input data into computer database;
  • Perform additional relevant tasks, as needed. 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or related field OR 3-4 years of relevant experience. Experience working with justice-involved individuals and/or clients with substance abuse and mental health diagnoses preferred. Candidate must be a skilled communicator able to work in multi-disciplinary setting and maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies and organizations both onsite and in the community. Excellent writing skills a must. Candidate must be detailed-oriented with great time management and organizational skills; a self-starter who can be efficient within a fast-paced environment.

Salary

Salary starts at $43,000 and is commensurate with experience.
