Job Description

Title: Senior Program Associate, Nonprofit Sector Infrastructure

Department: Program

Reports To:  Associate Vice President for Programs

FLSA Classification: Exempt  FTE: 1       

Supervises: None      


Position Summary:

The Senior Program Associate, Nonprofit Sector Infrastructure will work closely with the Associate Vice President for Programs to support ongoing strategy iteration and execution, grantmaking, and internal and external relationship management. This role will also help design and implement programming, conduct research, coordinate convenings and events, and serve as a resource and representative of the strategy including the development of written materials, and other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions:

  • With guidance from the AVP, Programs will successfully develop, support, and manage relationships with external partners, including practitioners, consultants, and nonprofits, to advance the 5 Elements of Nonprofit Effectiveness within Greater Boston nonprofits;
  • Help develop and facilitate the implementation of various efforts to advance racial equity within Greater Boston nonprofits. Including via public conversations, grant support for organizations and intermediaries, new program development, technical assistance, peer learning, and measurement;
  • Support grantmaking to Nonprofit Sector Infrastructure core partners, including proposal review, due diligence, and development of funding recommendations;
  • Coordinate capacity-building and educational opportunities for individual and cohorts of Boston Foundation grantees and partners;
  • Track and oversee strategy budget;
  • Track and maintain contracts and relationships with consultants and practitioners;
  • Prepare written materials on a timely basis, including talking points, strategy updates, reports, website updates, written communication to nonprofits, and other communication material for internal and external use;
  •  Advance Nonprofit Sector Infrastructure strategy goals via research, writing, public speaking engagements and presentations;
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with other colleagues, all aspects of meetings, convenings, and other events (including coordinating attendee schedules, invitations, meeting preparation, note taking); and
  • Support scheduling, calendar and expense management for Associate Vice President for Programs.


Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Individuals assigned to this position may perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Preparation, Knowledge, Previous Experience:

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; and
  • 4-6 years related professional work experience.

Skills, Abilities, Competencies:

  • Knowledge of nonprofit operations and organizational development;
  •  Strong understanding of, and comfort with racial equity concepts and issues, including within the nonprofit sector;
  •  Demonstrated ability to successfully manage, organize and coordinate simultaneous projects with multiple components;
  • Mature interpersonal style and ability to interact well with a diverse range of people;
  • Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines; 
  • Experience with program design and project management with multiple stakeholders;
  •   Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  •  Proactive, participative work style; ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;
  •  Ability to receive and productively process constructive feedback;
  •  Resourceful and able to work independently;
  • Experience with grantmaking due diligence or similar processes;
  • A creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills;
  • Experience with scheduling, calendar and expense management;
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; and
  • Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn and successfully navigate Salesforce, Foundation Power and/or SmartSimple.


Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time;
  • Ability to work on site and remotely, as required; and
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
