Description

About the Skoll Foundation:

The Skoll Foundation was created by Jeff Skoll in 1999 to pursue his vision of a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. The mission of the Skoll Foundation is to drive large-scale change by investing in, connecting, and celebrating social entrepreneurs and the innovators who help them solve the world’s most pressing problems. Social entrepreneurs are society’s change agents – creators of innovations that disrupt the status quo and transform our world for the better. By identifying the people and programs already enacting positive change throughout the world, the Foundation empowers them to extend their reach, deepen their impact, and fundamentally improve society. To expand resources available to social entrepreneurs, the Foundation develops alliances with aligned institutions across multiple sectors that share a passion for driving change on the critical issues of our time. Allies bring a wealth of capabilities to bear—from knowledge and networks, to the sourcing and support of innovators around the world.

Position Summary:

This role is a limited-term position reporting into the Director of Funder Alliances. The Funder Alliances team of the Skoll Foundation seeks an experienced, driven, resourceful, and responsible individual to advance the development and deployment of a powerful network of funders in pursuit of shared strategic and programmatic goals. The Senior Program Manager will be accountable for developing, stewarding, and supporting key relationships as it relates to the Foundation’s growing portfolio of aligned funding allies and leverage cross-sector expertise to support the evolution and implementation of Funder Alliances strategy—including all aspects of internal advisory and intelligence building. The Senior Program Manager will gain significant exposure to leading innovators, resource providers, and other change agents; transformative models for social change; and the inner workings of a leading organization dedicated to advancing social entrepreneurship toward systems-level impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

Relationship development and stewardship

• Develop and support opportunities to inform and guide the resource deployment of funder allies, in collaboration with internal Foundation teams.

• Explore potential to build new alliances by representing the Foundation’s priorities while developing a nuanced understanding of the values, interests, and resources of select funders.

• Support the design and implementation of philanthropic investments into certain partnerships.

Internal advisory

• Build the capacity of internal Foundation teammates to advance funder alliances.

• Coordinate key alliance activities across Skoll programs, in pursuit of key outcomes.

• Support curation, planning, and implementation efforts for select funder/finance, corporate, and governmental delegates of the Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship.

Intelligence building

• Curate and share intelligence on key and emerging allies who represent philanthropic and impact investments aligned with Skoll portfolio organizations and other investments.

• Research trends, track relevant industries, and map prospective partners to inform organizational and programmatic priorities.

• Represent the Foundation in sharing best practices and lessons learned in funding and supporting social entrepreneurship.

S/he will possess keen analytical skills; exceptional attention to detail; exemplary interpersonal skills, in both verbal and written communications; demonstrated success in developing and stewarding alliances toward achieving concrete, shared objectives; superb project management abilities; cultural competence, particularly in working with developing communities; and understanding of the dynamics of networks and of organizational growth, scale, and investment (both nonprofit and for-profit). Experience in structuring and monitoring philanthropic and impact investments; working knowledge of social entrepreneurs; familiarity with corporate, governmental, and civil society actors; and the tenacity to get things done provides the ideal candidate with the confidence and credibility to work with the Foundation’s portfolio organizations, senior leadership, programmatic teams, and influential partners.
