Introduction

As the Development Assistant you will have an exciting experience joining a growing fundraising team. If you are looking to learn about fundraising and work closely with a dynamic organization, this is the opportunity for you.

The Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense (AIDA) is a pioneer organization of Latin American experts who provide free legal and scientific support to protect the environment and communities in the region.

We are driven by the mission to strengthen the capacity of people to guarantee their individual and collective right to a healthy environment and advance environmental and climate justice and improve environmental governance in the hemisphere. To achieve this, we select emblematic cases and projects where the strategic use of international law and scientific argumentation can set key precedents. We test new approaches, taking the application of laws and treaties beyond their common scope. We identify and disseminate information on best practices and scientific and technical standards for achieving environmental protection. We work hand in hand with individuals, communities, national and regional organizations, government entities, academia, and international agencies.

AIDA has nearly 25 years of experience in achieving victories for the protection of the environment and human rights in Latin America. This is made possible by our committed team with backgrounds in law, science, and communication, as well as administrative and fundraising skills, with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities the region faces regarding environmental and climate justice. The vast majority of our team lives and works in Latin America, from Chile to Mexico.

AIDA has opened a full-time position to support our fundraising efforts. The position is open to individuals located in the US, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, with experience in administrative assistance, database and platform management, and with experience and/or interest in fundraising.

AIDA is characterized by its dynamic, professional and motivated team. Every person who collaborates at AIDA is key to our success and this position is no exception. This is an exciting opportunity as the individual will play an important role in strengthening our fundraising efforts. We are looking for a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills who is able to work both collaboratively and independently. The position requires exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail. Almost all fundraising work is done in English, so exceptional English language skills are required.
