For forty years, AHS has provided quality and compassionate services to immigrants, refugees, and other underserved communities in the Chicago area. AmeriCorps members serve in diverse positions across the agency, providing valuable direct services in education, health care, and employment.

Workforce Development/Employment Program

Career Mentor


Primary responsibilities:

  • Guide small group of clients through Job Readiness Training (JRT) program
  • Work with caseload of clients one-on-one to develop resumes, assist with job applications, and conduct mock interviews
  • Develop and conduct employment skill seminars
  • Enter client data into program databases, such as intake forms, case notes, and completed program hours
  • Verify employment information and maintain positive, supportive relationships with clients and employers


Start and end dates:

September 2018 - August 2019


Time commitment:

Full time (40 hours/week)


Qualifications

- Excellent communication and organization skills

- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work with diverse populations

- Knowledge of Spanish preferred, but not required

- Experience with employment services preferred

- 4 year college degree preferred
