The Lutheran Volunteer Corps (LVC) places recent college graduates (“volunteers”) in full-time service positions at social-justice organizations for one or two years. Volunteers are encouraged to explore LVC’s core principles:  living simply and sustainably in intentional community while serving the cause of peace with justice.  LVC provides a foundational learning experience around on racism, oppression, and privilege and how these intersect with social justice; and the role of spirituality in inspiring and sustaining leadership.  Successful candidates will be comfortable and eager to engage diverse constituents to advance LVC’s inclusive aspirations.

The Operations Manager works collaboratively across departments and employs superior attention to detail and a service orientation around business operations including banking and finance, accounts payable/receivable, human resources and benefits, contracts and vendor negotiations, information technology, program logistical support, insurance and compliance, and day-to-day operational tasks in support of senior leadership priorities. 


Duties and responsibilities are general and not intended to be all-inclusive.  

  • Payroll -- Process semi-monthly and keep paid time off records
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable -- Track, process, and file invoices, reimbursements, donations, and fees
  • Banking -- Manage deposits, ACH electronic funds payments, transfers
  • Human Resources -- Manage onboarding and outboarding for employees, volunteers, and board; review and administer benefits, enrollments, and terminations
  • Policies and Procedures -- Monitor and update P&P for employees, volunteers, Placements, and other entities 
  • Contracts -- Manage review and updating of contracts for volunteer and placement participation, leases, office systems, technology, and other agreements
  • Database -- Update database records to record donations and status changes, and run reports
  • Communications -- Prepare correspondence and written material for donation/gift acknowledgement, vendor relationships, key web site information, contracts, social media; occasionally arrange video calls for LVC groups
  • Program Support -- Lead logistical support for national orientation, retreats, special meetings
  • Reporting -- Use databases, Excel spreadsheets, and other means to track and report on major areas of work

Requirements:

At least five years of business operations experience including human resources, financial management, vendor relations and contracts, information technology, event logistics, and office systems.

·       Superior organization and administration, along with high initiative and proactive leadership skills

·      Analytical mindset for identifying problems, generating solutions, and resolving.

·      Able to work cooperatively and effectively with others.

·      Strong familiarity with accounting software and databases.

·       Some weekend and evening commitments.  Able to travel a few times each year.

·       Bachelor’s degree preferred, but may substitute for significant years of experience in the field.
