Climate Power has an immediate opening for a Political Manager or a Senior Political Manager to help implement Climate Power’s political strategy. 

Climate Power is an independent strategic communications and paid media operation focused on building the political will and public support for bold climate action. Founded by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, and Sierra Club, Climate Power integrates hard-hitting research, polling, state and national earned media, digital and paid media to influence the national conversation, embolden leaders to take immediate, bold climate action, and expose climate deniers and their oil and gas lobby allies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow relationships with partners, including environmental justice organizations, extreme weather experts, latino community, clean energy industry, private sector, local and state elected officials, youth activists, scientists, economists, labor groups, and climate organizations. 
  • Maintain relationships with all state Advisory Board members, and develop outreach plans to constantly expand partnerships in 10 states.
  • Grow relationships with Hill staff, identify unique ways to work together with Members; send emails weekly to Hill with updates. 
  • Work with partners to disseminate our messaging, research, digital content, storytelling videos, and collaborate on special projects. 
  • Assist Communications team with rapid response requests, including identifying experts and partners to pitch to press in key moments.
  • Develop strategic plans with Political Director and Campaigns colleagues; and work closely with Communications and other teams to provide feedback and day-to-day support on projects.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of political experience, including issue advocacy and/or electoral experience.
  • Experience working with partners and allied organizations and coalitions. Experience working with climate and environmental groups preferred. 
  • Experience working on the Hill or with members of Congress on legislative advocacy efforts preferred.
  • Ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts.
  • Very strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced campaign environment with unpredictable hours in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong strategic campaign and writing skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects at a time.

This full time exempt position reports to Climate Power’s Political Director.

Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and responsibilities. The salary range for this position starts at $70,000.  We offer a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off.
