Director of Client Services

Job Type

Full Time

Minimum: $55,000
Maximum: $60,000

United States

Unchained At Last, the only organization dedicated to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and advocacy, seeks a Director of Client Services. WARNING: You should apply for this job only if you want a deeply meaningful, adventure-filled job that will make all your friends jealous.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Client Services works closely with women, girls, LGBTQ individuals and others who are escaping forced marriages. The Director of Client Services gets the opportunity to:

  • Conduct intakes;
  • Create and implement escape plans;
  • Advocate for survivors' needs and connect them with crucial resources;
  • Provide ongoing emotional support;
  • Coordinate an annual client retreat;
  • Oversee a case manager, occasional interns and hundreds of volunteers; and
  • Educate the public and key groups and testify before legislators.

Partial telecommute options are available.

You might be a good fit for this position if you:

  • Are endlessly compassionate and patient - but can also be a badass;
  • Are ridiculously organized;
  • Have at least five years of applicable professional experience, preferably providing services to trauma survivors;
  • Hold an advanced degree, preferably in social work, psychology or a related field; and
  • Feel passionately about Unchained’s mission.

Unchained encourages survivors of forced marriage to apply.

NOTE: A internal study at HP found women applied for a promotion only if they met 100 percent of the qualifications, while men applied if they met 60 percent. Women, don't be a statistic! If you want this job, go for it.

Girls, women, LGBTQ individuals and others across the U.S. are being pressured, tricked, threatened or beaten into marriage, usually by their own parents. For them, marriage often means a lifetime of rape and domestic servitude.

Unchained is the only organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, often life-saving legal and social services and emotional support — always for free — to help women, girls and others in the U.S. to resist or escape their forced marriage. Unchained also is the only organization dedicated to promoting social, policy and legal change to end forced and child marriage in the U.S.

A day at Unchained is rarely dull. In just the last year, members of the small but feisty Unchained team were followed frequently by news and filmmaker cameras; ate dinner with Chelsea Clinton; Chained-In in multiple cities, in bridal gowns and chains, to protest forced and child marriage; and got tattoos together to commemorate the team’s historic legislative victories that ended child marriage in Delaware and New Jersey. They lost count of their team walks and ice cream outings. They cried a lot together, but laughed together even more.

The compensation package for this position includes a salary that ranges from $55,000 to $60,000 plus health insurance and a United Nations ground pass.

Partial telecommute options are available.
