Kairos Fellowship and, our 501(c)4 arm, Kairos Action work toward building a society where tech works for all of us. To do this, our campaign team focuses on the intersection of technology, democracy, and racial justice. We have launched Tech Is Not Neutral as an umbrella campaign that has so far focused on content moderation problems on the Nextdoor app, Facebook’s undermining of the election, and the way tech companies continue to aid police despite claiming that Black Lives Matter.
This has all been in just our first year of campaigning. And we’re looking for a talented Director of Campaigns to continue to lead this growing team toward greater success.
The Director of Campaigns understands that building power requires creativity, strategy, strong relationships, and a whole lot of elbow grease. The Director of Campaigns is a self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative strategist, and strong project manager who has a compassionate yet results-driven approach to team management. The Director of Campaigns will lead a team of 3-5 campaigners and consultants to continue developing Kairos’ burgeoning tech accountability and governance work.
The ideal person will have a track record of 5-7 years of digital campaigning. They must care about and have a track record of racial and gender justice work. They are able to combine all these factors to build trust and collaboration rooted in clear decision-making roles throughout a team.
Kairos is a small, nimble, and growing team. Our team consists of nine full-time staff people and several part-time consultants. Everyone pitches in on each aspect of the work and we believe in collaborative input with clear decision-makers. We are still growing and learning and are looking for someone who will dive in and help shape our work for years to come. The Director of Campaigns will report directly to the Executive Director, be part of the Senior leadership team, and work closely with the other members on the team.
If you are an organizer who is passionate about social justice and disrupting structural violence in all forms, wants to lead on digital strategies and campaigns to build power at the local, state, and national level, then this is the role and team for you!
