OVERVIEW

Code2College is seeking emergent leaders to join our small and growing team. This is a remote position that offers a unique opportunity for you to spend your first 90 days working on a myriad of impactful projects, receiving a high volume of feedback and ongoing professional development that prepares you for the opportunity to be promoted into a Program Manager role. You will gain hands-on experience and exposure in all aspects of a growing non-profit, and have access to a team that is deeply invested in your growth and development. This position is ideal for you if you are early on in your career or wanting to break into the non-profit space, excited to learn the ins and outs of a growing education non-profit, and eager to explore and build your professional skill set.

WHAT YOU’LL TAKE ON

For your first ninety days as a Program Coordinator, you will receive intensive training, support and feedback towards becoming a highly effective member of our team. We have developed a 30/60/90-day roadmap to prepare you to excel in technical projects based in Microsoft Office, professional communication and stakeholder engagement, as well as data analysis, project management and a variety of other transferable skills. During this time, you will be assessed at each 30-day mark and receive support and feedback that will determine whether or not you advance and are placed into the Program Manager role.

Program Coordinators who successfully complete their first 90 days and are placed/promoted into the role of Program Manager will be assigned either a) a portfolio of schools to manage, or b) a portfolio of high-value projects. Your placement will be based on your strengths and skills, which will be explored and determined throughout your 90 days.

Within your first 90 days you will have:

  • Owned and successfully completed at least 3 high-value projects that impact one or more stakeholder groups (students, families, volunteers, school administrators, etc.) and help grow our programmatic reach
  • Supported our Vision 2024 initiative to place 200 Black and Latinx women into STEM roles by 2024
  • Contributed toward our placement of 150 high school students into technical internships

Below are some examples of workstreams and outcomes that you may be responsible for:

  • Student Engagement & Support: Develop and refine program content and workshops, and conduct data-driven student check-ins for up to 40 students to ensure program success and growth as evidenced by student engagement and programmatic survey data
  • Intern Preparation & Support: Conduct research, develop training, and provide ongoing support to interns to ensure that 100% of interns are successfully completing their internship programs.
  • Volunteer Engagement & Support: Using the Code2College model of instructional excellence, provide ongoing program and instructional support to volunteer instructors to ensure learning outcomes are being met and 90% percent of volunteers are retained.
  • Stakeholder Management: Foster a sense of community and use your customer-centric approach to grow student and alumni engagement by 20% percent. Support the creation of a student recruitment and engagement strategy to expand programmatic reach within your portfolio of schools.
  • Project Management: Build systems, processes, and best practices to help scale the organization so that Code2College is poised to grow into 2 new regions by Fall 2021.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

We are looking for someone who is early on in their career or looking to move into the non-profit education space, is eager to grow and develop, and is committed to our mission to equip minority and low-income high school students with the professional skills they need to excel in STEM degrees and careers.

  • You have a love of learning. You believe that your talents can be developed and you see feedback as an investment in your personal and professional growth.
  • You build trust and operate with integrity. You communicate openly and honestly when there is an issue so we can address it together.
  • You consider yourself a natural problem solver. You are always thinking about ways to do things better or differently, and you love to find solutions to tough problems.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You see yourself as a self-starter who is driven by setting and meeting goals, and getting better all the time. You are motivated by challenges and bounce back quickly from set-backs.
  • You prioritize outcomes over inputs and “why” over “what.” You are driven by goals and data, and you see outcomes as your north star. You consistently align yourself to the “why” of the work to determine the how and the what.

Additionally, to be successful at Code2College, you will be aligned with our core values:

  • Resourcefulness: we're a lean startup and none of us are experts; there are so many opportunities to leverage relationships, free and low-cost resources and communal assets to the betterment of our students and organization
  • Urgency: the work that we do is important and every moment is an opportunity to change the lives of our students
  • Transparency: we are candid with each other, share challenges as well as triumphs and have an orientation toward learning from our mistakes by talking about them openly
  • Humility: every success is a team success and we're stronger as one unit; none of us can do this without the support of others

This role is most likely for you if you’re someone who:

  • Loves working with people, both adults and youth
  • Has impeccable professionalism which will serve as a model for students
  • Has a proven track record of attention to detail and effective execution
  • Is a clear communicator, both in writing and in person
  • Spanish language proficiency is plus
  • Authorization to work in the United States required

ABOUT CODE2COLLEGE

Code2College is a growing non-profit organization based in Austin, TX with a mission to dramatically increase the number of minority and low-income high school students who enter and excel in STEM undergraduate majors and careers. These students often lack access to some of the most in-demand careers and technical industries. Further, the absence of opportunity to explore these areas through exposure to industry professionals, technical skills development, and at-bats to practically apply these skills has led to the dearth of diverse technical talent that we see today.

We believe that through our approach to education, exposure, and experience, we can enhance student preparation for rigorous, technical careers and mitigate some of the key factors around STEM attrition.

Code2College has served over 1,000 students since 2016 and we plan to have served over 8,000 students by 2024.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

Code2College offers a salary of $35,000 annually for the Program Coordinator role. If you successfully complete your 90 days and are promoted to the Program Manager role, you will receive a salary increase to $40,000 annually along with a comprehensive benefits package. Additionally, you will receive intensive training, support, and feedback, and hands-on experience and exposure in all aspects of a growing non-profit. You will have the opportunity to join on the ground floor, and be part of the founding team that charts a path forward for organizational growth and success.

LOCATION AND START DATE

This is a remote role open to candidates within the United States. To ensure the safety and health of our team and partners, Code2College is committed to being 100% virtual through August 31, 2021, and will continue to assess circumstances to determine when to resume in-person events. Once travel resumes, monthly or quarterly travel is expected for staff working remotely outside of Austin, TX.

This role is available to start immediately upon hire. We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis.
