The Role

The AHA is seeking to hire a motivated Digital Media Coordinator to manage our social media accounts and mass-email communications. Reporting to the Deputy Director and working closely with various departments and the Design Manager, the Digital Media Coordinator is responsible for using leading social media platforms to promote the association and its mission, expand its base of followers, and provide a clear and consistent voice for the AHA.

This position is temporarily remote due to COVID-19, but we plan a flexible/hybrid return to our Dupont Circle office when it is safe to do so. The ideal candidate is based in the DC-area or would be willing to relocate in the future.

Key Responsibilities

·        Coordinate with all departments to manage the AHA social media calendar (includes drafting regular posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others as technology and trends evolve), create and schedule content, create and manage ads and campaigns, moderate audience engagement, initiate social media fundraising efforts, and post rapid responses to relevant breaking news

·        Track, analyze and report on engagement data to inform content and strategy

·        Create and manage e-appeals, e-acquisitions, policy action alerts, and event emails in conjunction with program and development staff

·        Identify list sources for potential new members/supporters and actively seek out volunteers or influencers to bolster outreach

·        Manage and track newly acquired email lists

·        Work with the fundraising department to create email list segmentation for personalized communications (track, analyze, and report on e-appeal, e-acquisition, and policy action alert engagement data and use data to work with program and development staff to craft subsequent messages and appeals)

·        Support other activities and events as needed, such as writing for TheHumanist.com and copy editing AHA materials

·        Occasionally assist moderating and live-tweeting for virtual and in-person events

Desired Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field of equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram knowledge required; YouTube, TikTok and others a plus) and content development
  • Expertise with social media management tools and email campaign systems
  • Thorough understanding of social platforms and best practices for each channel, including consistent voice/branding and staying abreast of social media news and trends
  • Strong copywriting and copyediting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Team-player who can work independently and be a self-starter when needed
  • Creative thinker willing to brainstorm and pitch social media ideas
  • Meticulous attention to detail while multi-tasking; demonstrated time management skills and ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Willing to take feedback, learn, and grow
  • Commitment to creating and sustaining a positive, respectful and inclusive work environment
  • Understanding of humanism, literacy on social justice issues, and commitment to the mission of the AHA

Benefits

·        Paid medical, dental, and vision coverage

·        Paid time off
