The Cambridge Matignon School is an independent, co-educational Catholic college preparatory school serving young men and women from the Greater Boston area, and countries from all over the world. The Opportunity 

The Cambridge Matignon School is seeking a full-time Director of Development.


Leadership

  • Partner with the Head of School and organizational leadership to take Matignon’s development program to the next level;
  • Provide strategic leadership in all facets of the development program including planning, analysis, major donor identification and cultivation, coordination of volunteer leadership efforts, and related activities;
  • Work with the Development Committee and the Board of Trustees to identify, access, and engage fundraising sources for Matignon and enhance overall Board fundraising capabilities;
  • Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with other members of senior leadership to best understand Matignon’s mission and work, and effectively articulate this information to donors and the public; and,
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with the Head of School to ensure development activities are well coordinated with and supportive of school priorities.

 Fundraising 

  • Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive, proactive development plan focused on increasing revenue and participation from alumni, parents, faculty, and staff, and building strategic partnerships;
  • Establish strong philanthropic relationships with the school’s major benefactors;
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities in philanthropy that are relevant to the mission and work of Matignon;
  • Develop a strong donor pipeline of major and annual prospects that focuses on individual donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship;
  • Engage the Head of School in key donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities;
  • Develop print and digital marketing that integrates the school’s mission with fundraising and further promotes the school’s identity in the Greater Boston community and beyond; and, 
  • Plan and oversee major fundraising events including: Giving Tuesday, 12 Days of Christmas campaign, annual Tradition of Excellence Gala, Alumni reunions, etc.

Management 

  • Review development program and design strategies for setting progressive revenue goals, establishing meaningful metrics, and evaluating performance;
  • Collaborate with the Head of School, Assistant Head of School for External Affairs, and Director of Finance to create the annual department budget and long-term strategic development plans;
  • Oversee the building of effective development infrastructure, including systems and data infrastructure, policies, and procedures to ensure effectiveness and accountability across the program;
  • Manage the budget, resources, and outcomes efficiently and effectively;
  • As appropriate, determine the need for and recruit talented professionals to join a successful development team; and, 
  • Responsible for the management and integrity of the development database including data entry, reporting, analysis, monthly reconciliation with the finance office, and the establishment of standard operating procedures.


Your Background and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess many, if not all, of the following characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or other applicable field; master’s degree preferred;
  • 5+  years’ experience in development, marketing, or fundraising;
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, and superior interpersonal skills;
  • Skilled problem-solver and strategic thinker;
  • Ability to work independently while fostering positive, effective, and collaborative working relationships across various constituencies;
  • Strong computer and analytical skills with fluency with donor tracking software and similar fundraising and social media platforms;
  • Occasional night and weekend work is required, ability to travel when necessary.
