Position overview: The Senior Human Resources (HR) Manager is a dynamic role that specializes in policy development, providing thought partnership to leaders, and providing direct support to staff on complex employee relations and policy-related matters. This individual truly enjoys Human Resources (HR), is a stickler for HR details, and cares deeply for supporting organizational needs of a growing educational community. 

Position responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Provide Human Resources (HR) expertise to leadership to help guide policies and practices that support a culture of community, equity, and care
  • Propose and implement initiatives to enhance and strengthen the HR function within the organization
  • Build and maintain trust amongst staff and leadership to support and partner on organizational and people-related strategy

HR Administration

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to research, develop, refine, and implement staff policies
  • Design, document, and communicate policies that align to core principles; recommend and implement changes to current plans and policies to stay current with trends and in compliance with current legislation and best practices
  • Provide ongoing guidance, counsel and training to leadership and supervisors with work performance challenges, policy interpretation and compliance
  • Ensure that policies and practices are applied consistently across departments for all employees
  • Review, refine, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Oversee labor compliance, following-up with any necessary investigations

Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance for leaders on Annual and Mid-Year Performance Evaluations
  • Support with Performance Improvement Conversations
  • Oversee the processes and policies of employee onboarding & of-boarding
  • Manage the variety of Staff Leave policies and requests (FFCRA, STD & LTD, Maternity/Paternity Leave, FMLA) 

Compensation and Benefits

  • In partnership with TEP’s leadership team, manage compensation policy and compensation schedules
  • Oversee and administer TEP Perks (Benefits) and employee incentives
  • Ensure that effective internal controls over payroll and benefit processing are maintained

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in an Human Resources (HR) management role
  • Expertise in policy design, benefits, compensation, compliance, and Human Resources (HR) data management
  • Demonstrated experience leading significant change processes effectively and efficiently, both in the short-term and long-term for an outcome over time
  • Proven success in navigating employee relations challenges
  • A keen eye for thoughtful, comprehensive, equitable evaluation development
  • Ability to integrate larger policies into organization-specific policies
  • Excited by the prospect of tackling meaningful problems each and every day
  • Strong project management and supervisory experience required; displays the ability to manage strategic operations and partner collaboratively with TEP’s leadership team
  • Exceptional written and verbal/nonverbal skills, along with finely tuned interpersonal skills and professional judgment
  • Able to work with a high degree of self-direction and flexibility, especially with respect to taking initiative, prioritizing multiple tasks, and using excellent judgment to resolve problems

Accountability: The Senior Human Resources (HR) Manager reports directly to the TEP Chief Financial Officer.

$105,000 - $120,000

Benefits

Compensation: The Senior HR Manager earns a competitive salary in the range of $105K to $120K based on the individual’s experience level, with benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 403b retirement plan, STD, LTD and Life Insurance.
