Description

Young Concert Artists, a unique non-profit organization founded in 1961 dedicated to discovering and launching the careers of extraordinary classical musicians, seeks a detail-oriented, organized, people-oriented assistant to the development department.


The development assistant is part of a team of three charged with raising $2 million annually. Reporting to the Development Manager and to the Director of Development, the development assistant also works closely with the founding Director of YCA, Susan Wadsworth, and Executive Director, Mark Hayman, and frequently interacts with Board members, donors, and VIPs, thus requiring poise and affability. 


Responsibilities include processing and acknowledging contributions; maintaining donor records and donor listings; conducting research, analyzing data and compiling reports on current or prospective individual and institutional donors; preparing fundraising materials including letters, proposals, e-blasts and supplementary materials for grant proposals; guest list management for over 30 concerts, events, fundraisers, and board meetings in New York and Washington, D.C. annually; work on Benefit evenings with live and silent auctions; and coordination of numerous mailings including the Young Concert Artists Series brochure, holiday appeal, fiscal year end appeal, and concert, reception, Gala, and special event invitations; attending concerts and special events.


Experience and Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree

·        Superb attention to detail

·        1 to 2 years of professional experience, preferably in a non-profit organization

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher 

·        Ability to master our specialized fundraising software and manage multiple projects at once

·        Good research and writing skills

·        Interest in classical music

·        Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
