Code for America is looking for a talented Development Manager to join a fast-paced, values-based organization to help storytell our impact to donors who provide revenue to sustain our mission. 

About the Role: 

This is a new position designed for a talented mid-career professional to create concrete assets to acquire new donor audiences and strategically tell the story about the impact of financially investing in our programs and mission. 

You’ll report to the Chief Revenue Officer with a dotted line relationship to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. Additionally you will work closely with other members of the Development and Marketing teams to support and advance ambitious fundraising goals with brand fidelity in service to Code for America’s vision.

In this position you will:

  • Create and design content, such as decks, one pagers, fact sheets, impact reports, infographs, charts, multimedia, fundraising toolkits, and other assets to engage donors and prospects with the CfA brand
  • Pilot, implement, and evaluate digital acquisition tactics to attract and secure new individual donors
  • Help implement digital fundraising efforts and campaigns, including drafting email copy and graphics, testing, audience selection, and deployment
  • Serve as the liaison between the Development and Marketing teams, prep and run monthly team meetings and be responsible for follow up, and facilitate regular communication between the teams to ensure alignment and awareness
  • Assist forward facing fundraising staff by preparing strategic communications
  • Create, maintain, and drive awareness of a donor communications calendar in partnership with the Senior Manager of Digital Marketing on Comms
  • Coordinate and draft fundraising content for the website, monthly newsletter, and social media
  • Establish systems and processes to facilitate marketing and communications to donor audiences

About you: 

The position is a perfect fit for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of fundraising, marketing and communications, creating assets that help tell the story of Code for America’s impact, and brings an entrepreneurial spirit and growth-mindset to their work.

  • 3+ years experience in fundraising, marketing, communications or similar roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with HubSpot or similar email deployment system
  • Ability to meet deadlines and highly organized with careful attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage input and feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with high standards of excellence

  • Compensation: Code for America’s salary bands are transparent internally as a part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We extend this to our hiring process. This role at this level is ranged from $70,000 - $90,000 in yearly salary. As a part of our equitable hiring practices, we target the median for all new hires. The median for this role is $80,000. These ranges and the target are for the San Francisco/ Bay Area market and subject to adjustment for cost of living differentials.
