Bilingual COVID-19 Coordinator

Job Overview:  The Bilingual COVID Coordinator is responsible for continuous compliance with all aspects of the school’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols and will collaborate regularly with the Student Support Team, the Operations Team and the Network Nurse. The Bilingual COVID Coordinator is a member of the campus based Operations Team and serve as the direct points of contact for all students and their families related to the exclusion from attending in-person learning or work and assists in the identification of positive COVID-19 cases and subsequent communications. As it relates to staff COVID-19 issues, the COVID-19 coordinator supports HR in determining return to work protocols and quarantine directions. 

 Reports To: This position will report to the Director of Operational Strategy and Effectiveness but will work closely with the Office Manager for reporting and case management. This position does not have any direct reports.


Responsibilities and Duties:


COVID-19 Safety and Health Protocols

  • Understand overall COVID safety protocols for re-entry and recovery. This includes, but not be limited to: building access controls (arrival and dismissal), classroom setup, transitions through the building, meal service, cleaning, COVID testing, isolation room management, contact tracing, and communications  
  • Review guidance from the DC Department of Health (DC Health) and the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) regarding K12 school reopening
  • Conduct student symptoms identification health check (ASK, ASK, LOOK) as needed
  • Ensure all staff, students and families are following all protocols during day time and extended day programming

COVID-19 Building Safety and Supplies

  • Ensure all necessary safety signage is in place and clearly understood by students, staff and others
  • Supervise and maintain the isolation room including calling parents/guardians to pick up students
  • Work with Operations Manager and Facilities Manager to ensure cleaning and disinfecting procedures are followed
  • Support the Operations Manager and Operations Coordinator to ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning supplies, and other relevant inventory is always available for student and staff use
  • Responsible for daily walks to ensure all protocols are followed
  • Support a safe, socially-distanced arrival and dismissal 
  • Support daily staff and visitor health screening as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Act as designated Administrator of Medicine in emergency situations as needed


COVID-19 Exclusion Protocols

  • Verify that students entering the building are scheduled to be present that day and time, and that there are no health exclusion reasons for them to be denied entry (e.g., during a required quarantine period)
  • Support the Director in reporting any positive cases to DC Health and to conduct school’s contact tracing


COVID Testing Oversight & Management

  • Conduct asymptomatic COVID-19 testing of students and staff as determined by the school.
  • Support the Student Health Services’ (Children’s Nurse) symptomatic testing program
  • Contact and support families to collect all necessary COVID testing consent forms and eligibility for testing


Family Supports

  • Attend monthly Student and Family Support staff meetings with representatives from Inclusion, Teaching, Leadership and Operations team members as needed to support families managing COVID

Support School Events

  • Expected to attend (when relevant) and support pre-planned evening events throughout the year such as APTT, Expo, Flamboyan family visits, etc. as needed
  • Expected to attend at least one family event a year such as orientation, prospective parent info sessions, family potlucks, etc.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Meet monthly with supervisor to evaluate progress, growth and performance using Mundo Verde’s evaluation process
  • Support school safety by assisting with student arrival and dismissal procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Values:

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree
  • High attention to detail, organized and a problem solver
  • Strong oral and written skills in both English and Spanish
  • Strong computer skills including Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to explain complex situations and interact with a diverse group of constituents
  • Flexible, self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritize and work independently and on a team
  • Flexible with unexpected schedule changes and quickly shifting priorities
  • Ability to be trained in Medication Administration
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Other job details: 

  • Position Type: Full-time position which is eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Schedule: 9:30am-6pm or 7:30am-4pm. 
  • Location: Either campus
  • Hourly Rate: $20 to $25 depending on experienced (contracted rate may be different depending on rates)
  • Employment subject to TB test, fingerprinting and background check
