Overview

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a Program Specialist, Continuing Professional Development (CME) to support the Continuing Professional Development Department with organizing and facilitating the retention of continuing medical education documentation required for accreditation. The Specialist will also administer ACOG Jointly Provided programs.

Responsibilities

Jointly Provided Program

  • Provides support for all aspects of jointly provided activities for approximately 60 jointly provided CME programs under ACOG's accreditation.
  • Monitors compliance with the Standards for Commercial Support according to ACCME and ACOG Policy.
  • Coordinates advertisement for Jointly Provided Programs as a source of revenue.
  • Maintains the ACOG database for approximately 60 jointly provided programs.
  • Supplies written summary of evaluation data to the Jointly provided partner.
  • Reviews presentations for jointly provided programs.
  • Maintain department Jointly Provider database.
  • Prepare monthly partner updates in the form of a newsletter or e-blast

Cognate Program

  • Reviews and researches transcripts of CME activity to answer inquiries from participating physicians.
  • Enters cognate data into the computer. Researches questionable entries and composes correspondence.
  • Prepares and mails Annual Meeting certificates upon request.

Committee on Continuing Medical Education

  • Assists with preparation of the annual Committee on Continuing Medical Education (CCME) Meeting – hotel accommodations, report requests, take minutes, prepare minutes for distribution, all CCME meeting requests.
  • Assist with CCME research as required by the ACCME
  • Work with CCME onsite at the Annual Meeting

Institutional Review Board

  • Maintain IRB application files (paper and electronic).
  • Send reminders to IRB committee and applicants.

Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)

  • Assists with the ACCME reaccreditation process
  • Maintains files for the reaccreditation process
  • Assists Senior Director with ACCME Annual Report to be submitted in PARS system

Department of Continuing Professional Development

  • Maintains CME webpage on ACOG website.
  • Upload necessary CME information onto ADM meeting app includes presentations, disclosures, and evaluations – for all participating Districts
  • Assists Senior Director with securing grants for the Annual Meeting and Annual District Meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of five (5) - seven (7) years of relevant experience is required; Association experience is a plus
  • A self-directed and motivated individual, able to work without close supervision
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Possess editorial skills and be able to work accurately
  • Ability to perform detailed work under strict deadline requirements
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow, working on several assignments from different sources
  • Experienced in computer applications/Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Publisher, Internet, and Website applications
