The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, seeks a Research Associate to manage scientific operations of research activities for assigned studies, analyze data, and provide professional support for research activities in the AAPs practice-based research network, Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS).

Tasks include:

1.Manage the development and execution of research projects by the PROS network.

2.Provide oversight and support for the development of proposals for future funding, continuation applications, progress reports, and other materials as assigned.

3.Develop, oversee and maintain data and process management systems and manage PROS projects as assigned to ensure scientific and financial integrity and progress of these efforts.

4.Develop and manage comprehensive communication plans to maximize recruitment and retention of participants in PROS studies.

5.Establish and maintain effective communications with Fellows and other PROS investigators on project work.

6.Oversee activities to ensure ongoing compliance of assigned studies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements for assigned projects.

7.Develop, oversee and maintain systems to track status of contracts, budgets, and expenses for assigned projects and ensure compliance with funder and federal requirements.

8.Develop, execute and present results of statistical analyses for selected projects.

9.Prepare scientific products for peer-reviewed journals and professional research meetings and represent the network and/or division at these meetings as appropriate.

10. Develop agendas and materials for PROS research meetings and attend/present at these meetings.

11. Train and supervise assigned staff.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Needed:

1.Master’s degree in social/behavioral/clinical sciences, public health, business, or related discipline required.

2.Three years of clinical/public health or social science research experience required, including research project management, all aspects of research planning and data analysis, and some peer-reviewed research products. Supervisory experience preferred.

3.In-depth understanding of all phases of research required, as well as excellent communication, analytic and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office and experience with database (i.e.: Access) and statistical software (i.e.: SAS, SPSS) required.

4.Must be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting. Interest in a variety of child health research issues preferred. Some evening/weekend work and travel required.
