Centennial State Prosperity seeks an Organizing Manager to help our advocacy campaigns grow and succeed.

 

Position: Organizing Manager

Location: Remote, Colorado’s Front Range

Position description:

The Organizing Manager will serve as the primary organizing professional for CSP and will report to the Executive Director (ED). This is a mid-level role in a small organization. They will be responsible for forming and/or cultivating existing relationships with individuals, businesses, partner organizations, and other community members in order to engage them with CSP’s grassroots work and connect them with opportunities to interface with decision makers through calls, emails, petitions, and more. Organizing efforts will be focused in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, El Paso, Jefferson, and Pueblo counties. They will also execute grassroots organizing tactics on 2-4 issue campaigns per year and collaborate with coalition partner organizations. 


Tasks will include:

  • Collaborating on the formation of a 2021-22 strategic grassroots organizing plan for CSP
  • Designing virtual & digital organizing plans for fall 2021 and spring 2022
  • Writing digital and phone-based volunteer recruitment and voter contact scripts (email, SMS, P2P, phone)
  • Recruiting volunteers and soliciting stories from CSP’s activist list by making phone calls; sending emails/peer-to-peer texts; SMS messages, etc.; and organizing online group events to generate action.
  • Moving supporters up CSP’s ladder of engagement and turning them into advocates for our issues while utilizing our powerful theories of change.
  • Managing CSP’s data in ActionNetwork (ensuring data is clean and inputting constituent stories, key interests, and opportunities for further engagement)
  • Strategizing on ongoing digital communication tactics with the ED and CSP’s communications consultants
  • Attending 1-3 coalition meetings per week and sharing outcomes/brainstorming further engagement with the ED
  • Participating in regular check-ins with CSP’s suite of consultants to help ensure all organizing efforts are complementary and coordinated. 


Skills and qualifications:

  • Experience organizing for elections or issue advocacy work
  • Strong grasp of political and advocacy organizing tools and tactics
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers
  • Experience using organizing, texting, & digital programs on electoral or issue advocacy campaigns
  • Strong, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in an evolving environment
  • Strong communications skills, including copywriting, phone conversations, video conversations, etc.
  • Must be a strong collaborator and able to work in groups
  • Ability to establish and adhere to performance metrics, established in collaboration with the ED


Ideal candidates will also: 

  • Care deeply about the volunteer experience and will incorporate this passion into every aspect of their work
  • Be committed to the values and principles of diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion, particularly as they relate to organizing currently marginalized communities throughout the counties CSP works in
  • Be eager to think of creative ways to run issue advocacy campaigns and maintain an open mind to new and innovative organizing tools and tactics in order to achieve the objectives of the organization
  • Be interested in taking data-driven approaches to organizing and developing and/or maintaining their professional knowledge of best practices
  • Have experience with Action Network or another constituent relationship management system (CRM) and social media platforms


Success will be defined by: 

  • The number of grassroots supporters who take action to support CSP’s goals following contact with the Manager
  • The variety and depth of relevant constituencies that the Manager engages with CSP’s work 
  • The number of stories collected from stakeholders and validators about CSP’s issue priorities
  • Increase in CSP’s member list
  • Increase in active volunteers and members in the identified key regions


Additional details:

This is a full-time position running from September 1, 2021-February 28, 2022 (pending additional grant funding, the position will continue throughout 2022). The position is remote, however, two in-person meetings during orientation and one additional in-person meeting per month will be required. Additional travel (1-2 times per month) in Colorado’s Front Range may be necessary. Compensation will be $4,500/month. Benefits include a 3% match for retirement savings, a stipend to purchase healthcare, dental, and vision, paid sick days, time off for major holidays (including a week during the winter holidays), and nine vacation days. Occasional work hours on weekends may be required.
