General Purpose

This position will oversee all aspects of managing and maintaining the properties and facilities of Harford Family House to include both rental properties and property owned by HFH.  The incumbent is a key member of the senior management team and provides supervision to a full or part time facilities assistant, various volunteer groups and contractors as needed to insure the safe and proper functioning of all housing units managed by HFH. The incumbent must be available to handle emergency calls as needed.  Some weekend and evening work will be required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

·  Oversee all aspects of the properties owned and managed by HFH to include:

  • Routine, general maintenance of 36 housing units, including 22 apartments and 14 off-site duplexes, townhouses and single family homes
  • Routine grounds maintenance of all properties to include mowing, weeding, trash removal, snow removal, etc.
  • Routine maintenance of the common areas and offices in the apartment building owned by Harford Family House
  • Routine maintenance of all vehicles owned by Harford Family House
  • Developing long term strategy and budget for the upkeep, maintenance, and renovations of all properties
  • Work with the CEO and Property Committee of the Board of Directors on potential acquisition and new construction of additional units as the organization expands.

·  Provide supervision to full or part time facilities assistant, volunteer groups and contractors as needed to safely maintain all properties.

· Oversee all capital improvement projects to include budgets, selection of contractors and reporting requirements

· Available to be on call as needed for emergency maintenance issues

· Provide excellent customer service to all residents

· Serve as main point of contact for all renters

· Prioritize and respond to work order requests from residents and staff in a timely manner

· Prepare vacant apartments for new residents in a timely manner, utilizing volunteer groups when possible.  This can include general cleaning, painting, minor repairs, major repairs, moving in furniture and supplies, etc.

· Work with the Director of Program and Case Management to coordinate the movement of families and individuals in and out of program housing units

· Coordinate and organize furniture donations

· Coordinate the storage of supply donations

·  Assist as needed with organization events and activities to include set up and clean up of events, and transportation of supplies to and from events.

·Identify appropriate projects for volunteer groups of various sizes and skill levels and supervise the completion of these projects

·Develop partnerships with community organizations, businesses, volunteer groups, contractors and others to meet the needs of HFH

·Serve as a member of the senior management team

·Work with the finance manager to develop and monitor facilities department budget

·Participate in and provide information to the Property Committee of the Board of Directors as requested

· Participate in weekly Leadership Team, as well as monthly all staff meetings

· Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization

Education and Training

HS Diploma or GED

Vocational certification in one or more of the following areas is desirable: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Millwork, etc.

Knowledge and Experience

10 years experience in facilities management

5 years experience in supervisory role

Knowledge of Fair Housing standards and regulations

Budget development experience preferred

Working Conditions

Varied working conditions to include both office work and hands-on manual and skilled labor.  Some weekend and evening work required.  Ability to be on-call for emergencies. Some work will be conducted off site.
