Prospect Researcher

Founded in 1842, the New York Philharmonic is the oldest symphony orchestra in the United States, and one of the oldest in the world. Each season the Philharmonic connects with up to 50 million music lovers through live concerts in New York City and on its worldwide tours and residencies as well as with its digital recording series; international broadcasts on television, radio, and online; and as a resource through its varied education programs and expansive digital archive.

The Prospect Researcher conducts tactical research, prospects for new donors, and manages reactive research.

Responsibilities

• Generating prospects for regular assignment to the fundraising team.
• Developing creative ways to mine the database and manipulate data to find new prospects.
• Regularly pulling, uploading, and reviewing Wealth Screen data of new donors and ticket buyers to optimize Wealth Screen data.
• Working with the Campaign team to highlight and research prospects for multiple campaigns.
• Conducting in-depth profiles on current and prospective donors.
• Producing research documents for Special Events, Galas, Nominating Committee, and Monthly Solicitor meetings.
• Preparing research for the President & CEO, Executive Staff, VP of Development, and Board of Directors members as needed.
• Executing Tessitura lists and extractions for prospecting and reactive requests.
• Upkeeping and evolving the Prospect Management system in Tessitura.
• Maintaining Tessitura database records and conducting data hygiene projects, including coding deceased records and updating/adding contact information.
• Managing news alerts on donors and prospects.
• Supervising the Research Team’s budget and processing department invoices as needed.
• Handling the circulation and renewals of publications and databases.
• Keeping departmental calendars and ensuring the Research team is aware of all meetings and departmental needs.
• Miscellaneous duties as required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with two to three years Prospect Research (or comparable research) experience, including demonstrated knowledge of Wealth Screens. Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail. Familiarity with donor databases, data entry, data mining, and reporting. Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to produce under deadlines and work independently and effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM databases (preferably Tessitura).
