Position Title:            Human Trafficking Specialist

Classification:           Exempt Status

Reports to:                Program Manager, Human Trafficking Services

Start Date:                August 1, 2019



The Human Trafficking Specialist is a full-time exempt 35 hour per week direct service position. This position has the responsibility of providing direct services to children and adults impacted by all forms of human trafficking. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours when needed and will be based out of the Center for Safety & Change main office in New City, though occasional or regular work at off-site locations may be required.  This position will be directly supervised by the Program Manager of Human Trafficking Services.


Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


•        Identify/assess adults and children at-risk or current victims of trafficking.

•        Responsible for intakes, assessments, intensive case management and advocacy for adults and child victims of human trafficking.

•        Responsible for ensuring the provision of the following services: crisis intervention, safety planning, individual and family counseling, and provision of information and referrals to other agency services and to outside resources, as appropriate.

•        Assist foreign national victims in achieving HHS certification

•        Participate in on-call rotation to respond to overnight/weekend/daytime emergencies.

•        Assist in planning and coordinating of STOP FEAR Anti-Trafficking Task Force meetings.

•        Facilitate support groups

•        Assist clients in assessing and completing Office of Victim Services (OVS) application.

•        Provide advocacy and accompaniment to court, hospitals, police, District Attorney’s

Office and other community agencies.

•        Provide transportation, as needed.

•        Participate in supervisory meetings on a weekly basis.

•        Attend weekly staff trainings and clinical meetings/supervision.

•        Develop and distribute educational and outreach materials.

•        Attend and participate in community and professional meetings.

•        Document and prepare all necessary statistical data and narrative reports monthly and quarterly, as needed.

•        Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or related field; or 3-5 years equivalent experience and current enrollment in master’s degree program.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.


  • Possess strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, crisis-oriented environment: assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Requires flexible hours including some early mornings, evenings and being on-call.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking candidate strongly preferred; survivors of trafficking strongly encouraged to apply.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee must possess the ability to communicate with staff and clients. The employee must occasionally lift files and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation a must.



Salary: mid-high $40s
