    JOB TITLE: Finance Associate

    REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

    FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt

    WORK LOCATION: New York, NY

    HYBRID SCHEDULE: This role requires 2 in-office days per week at our NYC office.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    BBBS of NYC seeks a Finance Associate to support with day-to-day financial operations. The role requires collaboration with other departments to support financial processes, maintain vendor/expense records, and contribute to the automation of finance operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and adept at handling multiple financial tasks efficiently.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform all functions of Accounts Payable including payment processing and physical and electronic filing.
    • Collect, review, process and allocate all check requests and invoices and communicate details with vendors.
    • Maintain up-to-date vendor files, including ACH information and W9 documentation
    • Perform all functions of Accounts Receivable including credit card processing and check/cash deposits
    • Partner with Corporate engagement team to ensure seamless invoices to donors and sponsors in a timely manner and collaborate with the corporate chief department for collection and reconciliation of account balance.
    • Partner with the development and corporate team to make sure that the general ledger reconciles with the development database monthly
    • Partner with the CFO and Chief Development Officer on quarterly reconciliation of receivable aging and processing write-offs on uncollectable pledges
    • Enter journal entries on a rolling basis in Sage Intacct
    • Reconcile and review all corporate card expenses in accordance with organizational policies
    • Partner with Director of Finance and CFO in the annual preparation of audited financial statements.
    • Responds to audit requests regarding special events, foundation, individual giving and corporate workplace.
    • Director of Finance & Administration with government grants monthly expense reports, submission, and compliance
    • Train staff on proper coding of expenditures and ensure proper coding of expenses on a department, account, and grant level
    • Provide support for Cash flow and budget analysis
    • Maintain department files and documents
    • Run reports (general ledger, A/P, etc.) as needed for internal stakeholders
    • Collaborate effectively within a team structure to achieve departmental goals and enhance financial operations.
    • Partner with Director of Finance and Executive Leadership to further automate various finance processes.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    • 1-3 years' experience in accounting and financial management; bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business management strongly preferred.
    • Must have technical and computational accounting skills as well as an understanding of US GAAP and applicable industry standards
    • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Advanced computer skills needed (Microsoft Excel/Word)
    • Nonprofit work experience a plus
    • Knowledge of Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Tallie a plus

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
