GENERAL DUTIES


I.T. Assistants perform entry-level professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Assistants work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar based on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving minor technology problems, monitoring activities, and maintaining documentation. They have latitude for independent initiative and judgment, under supervision.

The IT Assistant, Level 2(Provisional) - Enterprise Reporting will work directly with the Director of Information Systems by assisting with the maintenance and job production of the School’s mainframe system. And will also:



•Participate in writing, modifying, and maintaining PeopleSoft PS queries as well as SQL queries

using the college’s 805i database.

•Debug and test software and queries before production.

•Run scheduled production jobs.

•Maintain records of production jobs in progress, jobs completed, and prepare

appropriate reports/documentation as required.

•Ensure compliance with uniform performance, security standards, procedures, and

efficient methods of work in the maintenance of school’s data management system.

•Participate in setting and ensuring adherence to programming and documentation standards.

•Assist technology team with third-party plug-in integration, data management systems and reporting.

•Transfer data from one medium/format to another.

•Assist with data storage operations.

•Other related duties assigned.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS       


1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent


2. A minimum of six months of full-time experience in a computer or technology-related position. Experience that is more than 20 hours per week and less than 35 hours per week may be counted at 50% of the requirement (i.e., two months of part time experience equal to one month full time experience)


3. Additional experience and/or education that can be met by ONE of the following: An additional three years and six months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; an Associate's degree plus 18 months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution


4. Demonstrated English Language proficiency


5. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.


This title has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.




OTHER QUALIFICATIONS


In addition to minimum qualifications for Level 1, incumbents must demonstrate they hold additional qualifications (education, experience or certification) appropriate to the specific requirements of the Level 2 position.



Preferred Qualifications:


•Proficient in Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Excel


•Strong knowledge of relational database management system (RDBMS)


•Ability to balance priorities, work on multiple projects, follow directions, and to deliver a finished product on schedule.


•Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based, and customer service-oriented environment.


•Knowledge of developing PeopleSoft Query in PeopleTools 8.54 environment


•Familiarity with table structures for CUNYfirst Campus Solutions/Student Administration.


•Understanding of business processes for Campus Solutions.


•Desired knowledge in report generation tools such as Tableau.


•Desired knowledge in Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, etc.


•Ability to work effectively both independently and with team members, as well as with varying levels of technical and non-technical user community.


•Detailed oriented, well organized, a fast learner.


•Excellent organizational skills in order to successfully manage and categorize projects


•Oracle database platform experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL


•Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including Access), SQL database, and Crystal Reports




COMPENSATION


New Hire: $51,569*

Incumbent: $58,274

*This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.
