Ideal Start Date: December 17, 2018


  • Recruit high school and college students to be teachers, and professional educators to be Mentor Teachers in our Summerbridge Program
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop and oversee all aspects of program operations and to align program work with the organization’s vision and mission
  • Work closely with the Breakthrough Collaborative and site staff to promote sharing of best practices across the national network of Breakthrough sites


  • Bachelor’s degree required plus a minimum of three years teaching/education experience with urban public school youth
  • A strong sense of purpose and vision for expanding educational opportunity and promoting educational equity, particularly for low-income students of color
  • Ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced non-profit environment that values collaboration, creativity, strong work ethic, and spirit
  • Excellent writing, organization, and technology skills
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed
  • Valid driver’s license; comfort and ability to drive a 15-passenger mini-bus
  • Prior Breakthrough experience is welcomed but not required

  • This position is part-time through May 2019 with the potential to transition to a full-time role with the right candidate.
