Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Human Resources/Chief Compliance Officer provides strategic leadership and is responsible for the overall development and management of all phases of human resources administration. Serves in advisory capacity to management on human resource and compliance matters. Enhances organization effectiveness by providing support, guidance, and training throughout the organization that enables management to meet operating objectives. Oversees Volunteers of America’s Learning Institute and staff development programs. Represents the organization to outside entities charged with enforcing employment regulations and laws. Has oversight for labor relations programs, including union negotiations and collective bargaining agreements. Provides oversight of VOA’s safety and risk management activities. In capacity as chief compliance officer, provides direction and oversight of the organization’s compliance/ethics program. Develops and monitors compliance activities and updates management and the board of directors on key issues



Requirements

Master’s Degree in a related field plus five years progressively responsible management experience in human resources. PHR, SPHR or other relevant HR or compliance/ethics professionally recognized certification is required. A thorough knowledge of broad human resource management principles and techniques, including a strong background in employee relations, is necessary. Must have the ability to create a shared vision to lead and inspire a decentralized HR team to execute the organization’s commitment to the mission and its diverse constituencies. Must establish and maintain effective relationships with management, employees, regulatory agencies, and the general public. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, is essential. Must convey a competent, dynamic and professional presence in working with others.
