Position Summary  

The LGBT Network is seeking a full-time Program Manager, Youth and Education Services.  This position will provide the day-to-day leadership and management for two program areas: (1) Youth drop-in programs providing support, leadership development, and health promotion services to LGBT youth; and (2) Education and training programs that create safer and more affirming spaces for LGBT people in the larger community. The Program Manager for Youth and Education Services serves as one of four Program Managers within the organization, and reports to the Director of Programs.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

The Program Manager for Youth and Education Services is responsible to:  

  • Provide oversight and management for the Youth and Education Services program unit and its six (6) full-time staff for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services
  • Manage an evolving range of daily drop-in programs for LGBT youth, with a focus and emphasis on youth development, and the full range of youth engagement from recruitment to retention
  • Ensure the timely and effective scheduling, delivery, and evaluation of all education, training, and leadership activities for schools, community-based organizations, government agencies, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and other members of the community
  • Deliver education and training activities, as needed
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of several key annual youth events, including LGBT youth prom, “Night of Noise” event, LGBT Conference, school-based awareness campaigns; and others
  • Represent organization at relevant community events and collaborative committees 
  • Serve in the staff rotation to open and close community center facilities
  • Coordinate data collection and reporting for organizational and grant reports and monitoring activities, and ensure all reports are submitted in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualification Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred 
  • Two-plus years of experience supervising full-time staff in a human services setting preferred 
  • Five-plus years of experience in a human services setting with a range of health promotion, social support, community-building, and education/training services strongly sought  
  • Commitment to and knowledge of the LGBT community 
  • Strong supervisory skills 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • The ability to respond sensitively to the needs of our clients  
  • Proficiency with computer skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel  
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment


Other Requirements  

  • Flexible work schedule a must, as this position requires working nights and weekends 
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver license as this position will require travel throughout Long Island  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of people and flexibility 
  • Strong organizational skills for handling multiple tasks at once
