POSITION DESCRIPTION: Administrative Assistant (Part-Time: 20 hours) 


Lavender Rights Project (LRP) is a grassroots nonprofit law firm, established in 2016. We are proud to offer quality, affirming, and accessible legal services and community programming centered in values of social justice for trans and queer folks, lower income people, and other marginalized communities.  We recognize people at the intersections of their LGBTQI+ identity encountering barriers of anti-blackness, xenophobia, and racism; ableism; low-income, economic, and class status; and experiences with incarceration. Expanded outreach through one of our programs, the Black Trans Task Force, highlights the particular needs and experiences of trans and queer BIPOC individuals. In addition, we offer guidance and counsel for smaller employers and not-for-profit organizations.


We are excited to open another role for a passionate and energized Administrative Assistant to support our growing organization. The position is 20 hours/week with related work benefits.

Role and Responsibilities 


Support Accounting Team: 


Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, reimbursements in QuickBooks; emailing staff and tracking reimbursement forms.

Performing bookkeeping entries in QuickBooks.

Entering timesheet data into the payroll system.

Participate and regularly attend as a team member in Accounting meetings.


Support Legal Services Team - attorneys and paralegals with client relations and case administration in areas of family law, estate planning, employment law:


Scheduling client meetings and consultations, calendaring of court dates, input client information and data into legal services/client management systems, and other legal support tasks and projects as assigned.

Regular communications with potential and existing clients; back-up with intake information.

Participate as a team member, and regularly attend weekly Legal Services meetings.


Desired Qualifications 

Past experience in a law firm or other office setting.

Familiarity and proficiency in Clio (cloud-based legal services platform).

Familiarity and proficiency in QuickBooks or similar software.

Awareness of current and historical issues and viewpoints central to the needs and concerns of QT2SBIPOC folks and disabled individuals.

Required Qualifications

Education or experience, or a combination, related to this administrative support role. Relevant experience in client relations, communications, scheduling, bookkeeping, and office organization.


Skills: Current WA state driver’s license, required insurance, and vehicle for local travel (preferred). Can learn or has experience with Google Suite; Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint. 


Pay Rate & Fringe Benefits

$20.00/hour; 20 hours/week. We offer a flexible schedule for work hours, with regular attendance at weekly LRP staff and Legal Services meetings. LRP main offices are located in Tacoma, WA. Presently, all staff are working remotely, which includes this position.


Medical plans, with employer contributions at about 80% of premium costs; employer-paid dental and vision coverage; flexible spending account; 401(k) retirement; optional voluntary insurances; Orca Card.
