Title: Mobile Unit Driver
Reports To: Administrative Coordinator / AVP of Prevention Services
Responsible for the driving, coordination of maintenance and security of the agency’s Mobile Units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1 Driving mobile unit to designated target sites based on pre-determined outreach schedule pertaining to the assigned program; and does not leave unit unattended.
2.Oversight, maintenance and security of mobile unit, and keeping logs, including but not limited to the following required responsibilities:
· Cleans unit inside and out.
· Ensures parking in appropriate/legal parking locations and work with the Facilities Coordinator to obtain the necessary exemptions/parking permits.
· Ensures safe disposal of human waste tanks at designated locations.
· Fills gasoline tank as appropriate by using agency gas card
· Checks oil levels and arranges servicing as needed
· Consults with the Facilities Coordinator to schedules appropriate mileage maintenance with the Mobile Unit dealer according to service contract.
· Creates logs of all the above activities which are maintained in a locked cabinet on the mobile unit, and presented for weekly program supervisory review and for review by the Facilities Coordinator.
3.Review all maintenance logs with Facilities Coordinator and Supervisor weekly, and document discussion, findings and recommendations in the logs. Logs should be initialed by all parties present at the time of the review.
4.Re-stocks the mobile unit with testing and outreach supplies associated with the program – as needed.
5.Ensures transport and safe disposal of the sharp containers on the Mobile Unit in red hazard bags and take them to the BAS Prevention Department daily for pickup. The Mobile Unit Driver will be instructed in universal precautions regarding biohazardous waste, and will be required to wear gloves while handling any contaminated – or potentially contaminated - materials.
6.Posts mobile unit protocols in unit and ensures that all staff adheres to mobile unit protocols and procedures. Reports any non-adherence incidents to program supervisor and completes an incident report.
7.Completes BOOM!Health Incident Report Form for any incidents/accidents that may occur during execution of mobile unit outreach activities (i.e. incidents with staff, clients, parking tickets, moving violations, accidents, etc.) and submit to Department Director and to Human Resources.
8.Responsible for immediately notifying BOOM!Health Human Resources Department if there is any driving incident or accident on personal time, and indicate whether points have been deducted against his/her driving license.
9.Ensures driver’s license remains in good standing, and present license semiannually to Human Resources for review. BOOM!Health will conduct a six month driver’s license check with NYSDMV.
10.Serves as a driver at the request of Program Coordinator and/or Department Director, and will conduct any other duties as assigned.
11.Understanding of and commitment to harm reduction theory and practice.
12.Must demonstrate a commitment to advocacy and activism, particularly in the crises of HIV/AIDS, homelessness and drug policy.
HS Diploma and 3 years equivalent work experience required. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS preferred. English/Spanish preferred. A valid NYS driver license with a 3-year clean motor vehicle record is required. CDL is preferred but not required.
